2019 Tulane EA/SCEA Decision Thread

has anyone gotten denied/deferred yet? Does Tulane typically release acceptances first and wait until closer until the Dec. 15th date before denials and deferrals?

@Hi1997‌ - Exactly.

Anyone heard back from Ohio?

No. We are still waiting!

Just heard back today. Accepted!

3.5 GPA
32 ACT
several leadership EC’s, go to a very competitive private school in Ohio.

Good luck everyone!

Did you apply EA or SCEA?

EA. Anyone gotten in SCEA yet??

I haven’t really been scanning the Tulane forum here !!

I applied EA wayyy back in July. I have a 32 ACT and ~3.7 UW GPA. Still haven’t heard my decision yet, but that may have been primarily because my counselor failed to send the SSR for 2-3 months. Glad I had applied in July.

Hope my decision is released soon. I’m also going to take a stab at Paul Tulane scholarship (prob wont get it though), because without it Tulane probably will be too expensive. We have substantial financial need.

Good luck

@Ctesiphon‌ - Any chance you would be a candidate for the Community Service Scholarship?

Probably not, unfortunately. I’ve done a decent amount of service, but nothing I feel like I deserve an award for. With only ~15 awarded each year I imagine it’s pretty competitive.

I suppose it could depend on what defines “service”. For example, I spend a lot of time with our school’s Environmental Team. Last year we mowed down this sizable overgrown yard behind our school and killed off a lot of honeysuckle (an invasive plant). We also did presentations around school to teach students what to compost, recycle, and throw in the garbage. We did these activities throughout the fall months. This year though, it hasn’t been as much community involvement though, at least with my particular project.

Would that constitute a service activity? If so I probably have over 100 hours but then again I often see kids touting half a thousand hours.

I’ve also done about 40 hours volunteering at the local elementary school. I haven’t started any community service organizations. I’m also in a peer teaching program where high school seniors go to the middle school to inform them on the dangers of drugs and alcohol.

I guess it can’t hurt to apply but I if I have no reasonable chance my time is probably best spent elsewhere. For my Paul Tulane scholarship essays, I’m being a bit risky. Writing a long poem in iambic pentameter. I’ll probably have to take some reasonable risks if I am to get it!

Best of luck!! Personally I like the idea.

Still showing up on Gibson that they don’t have my transcript & secondary school report, but the high school claims to have sent everything two weeks ago. Makes me nervous with the deadline approaching!! Anyone from MA hear yet?

You might want to call admissions and make sure they didn’t accidentally create 2 files that have to be merged.

has anyone from Connecticut, Florida, Maine, New Hampshire, Upstate New York, Rhode Island, or Vermont heard back yet? if our application has been complete for months and no acceptance yet does this mean its very unlikely an acceptance is coming :(

Any other SCEA acceptances?

I applied in mid-August and my application was marked complete in early September. I have yet to hear back about my decision; should I be worried that I may have been deferred? Has anyone else from PA not received his/her decision?

My daughter hasn’t heard anything who applied in early September with a 34 ACT and 3.93 GPA in Georgia.
