Acceptance Letters

smallcitydreamer: I got into UW yesterday and we have the same scores (3.7 UW gpa and 1970 sat and 30 act) and I didn’t show interest through my application, although I did visit the school already.

Accepted a couple days ago. I live in Renton, WA.
GPA: 3.98 UW (8 APs)
SAT: 2170 670CR/780M/720W
ECs: lots of ECs and leadership positions

Best of luck to everyone still waiting for their envelopes!

smallcitydreamer: that’s actually exactly what I did. Not in my actual two essays, but the last section that asked “Is there anything else you’d like us to know about you?” I wrote about how I’ve always wanted to attend the university, even as a little kid. It was a risky move, I have to admit. I might have looked a tad desperate, especially with my 3.39 GPA (2100 SAT). Anyhow, it worked out and I got accepted. I can’t say whether that part of my app helped me though.

@Boltz17 I have 4.2 weighted about 3.75ish uw and a 30 act

It’s getting annoying seeing all my classmates getting letters when I’ve still gotten nothing… I only live 2.5 hours from Seattle, come on UW! Although my hope of being accepted is quite low at this point, I still just want to know the decision so I can stop worrying and move on!

I actually think the way they send them out is they send out all the for sure acceptances and for sure rejections first, then the borderline kids who are on the bubble get sent out last. That is what I think so far. A bunch of my friends have gotten in who have high scores, and 2 have got denied already that I figured would get denied. Looks like we are all on the bubble…not promising, but we haven’t been denied yet…

Accepted!

In state
3.7 GPA
1810 SAT
4 AP Classes, 3 Honors
Pretty good ECs
Essays showed commitment to UW, did the optional essay too

@boltz17 Well, I guess on the bright side, we haven’t been for-sure rejected!

It bugs me though, I for sure think I deserve to be in, but I trust UW’s judgement. 1920 SAT, 3.4 GPA, 9 AP classes at the ranked 100th high school in the country. We shall see, we shall see.

See, I do see myself as borderline unfortunately. I have a 3.8 GPA but my SAT is only 1780 and I’m unsure about the quality of my essay. However, I am in the top 7% of my class, have some decent ECs (like three years in student gov., two year on the executive board), 3 AP classes (my school only offers 6), a difficult senior year course load, etc. I’m also a first generation college student, but I doubt that affects my app as much as it does financial aid.

I don’t really expect to get in, but I’m hoping still as much as I can!

^I know plenty of people who were accepted at my school with considerably lower stats than you. So don’t worry too much! UW seemed to accept a lot more people than last year with lower than average stats…at least from my school…

^Good to know! Thanks for that ray of hope, haha. :)

Has anyone been accepted so far that had a very low GPA and was OOS?

what do you consider very low?

accepted today oos CA 3.66W/2220 SAT!

I guess 3.2 and below?

So there is hope! Thanks everyone!

I hereby declare myself the very first confirmed wait-list on College Confidential.

Stats:
3.74 GPA UW
SAT 1700

I swear if I get waitlisted again from here I’m gonna burn the letter

If you got waitlisted, then maybe I’ll at least get waitlisted rather than just rejected! haha. I have a 3.79 and a 1780 SAT.

What exactly happens when you’re waitlisted, anyway? Do you just wait longer to hear a final decision or what?
