ADMISSION DECISIONS FALL 2016 (CLASS OF 2020)

I received my admissions letter today. I got in, and I have the Academic Achievement Award scholarship of 20k a year.

I have a 3.58 UW, 4.12 W GPA, 2080 SAT, and subject tests are biology 570, French 640, and math level 1 600.

I only have one EC (cheerleading) and I have the AP Scholar with Honors award and Certificate of Meritorious Service (for community service hours).

I applied four days ago and received my letter this morning.

Wow, congrats @helpimsoconfused. Again, seems to confirm those that are right in the middle of Tulane’s range (sweet spot) are often getting quick replies. How does Tulane figure in your college preferences? It’s OK to be blunt, you have your acceptance and we understand that there are a lot of good choices out there.

Thanks! Most kids in my grade are applying to Tulane as well. It seems to be very popular …

What interests me about Tulane is mostly their location. New Orleans’ culture is so rich and vibrant, and I would love to be immersed in their culture for as long as I can be.

Tulane is of my top choices, but I am still going to wait for all of my admissions decisions to come in before making my choice.

I did write the optional Why Tulane essay. I got my decision in less than a week so that was pretty awesome! Good luck!

@fallenchemist we have not gone down yet. I have been before tho.

He really liked their presentation. They talked about one TIDES seminar where you run with the prof around Nola. He’s a runner who will hang up his spike this year, but thought that, and most of the other tides seminars were super creative and looked fun! And he took the program as asymbol of who they are.

He also found a few Econ classes and profs that looked cool, along with some of the guest speaker seminars they brought in.

All this, and he hasn’t even seen how pretty it is:)

OI just read his letter: honors too.

I’m nervous now. I’m borderline for Tulane. :frowning: Though I don’t think anyone from GA, NC, or SC have gotten their decisions(that i know of).

@helpimsoconfused

Absolutely. That’s just smart.

@HRSMom my son was a runner too. He joined the Running Club and tries to run with them when his schedule permits. There are so many 5k’s down there (practically every weekend) he usually does one a month and just did his first Half Marathon. Running in NOLA, while very humid, is nice because it’s all flat. :slight_smile:

Son just received his letter. 34 ACT, 3.9. Received presidential scholarship 32k a year and honors college invitation. Excited!

@Chopinspiano I am from Georgia, but there is a lot of variation in when your file can be seen. Don’t stress.

wow congrats to everyone who has gotten in so far!
my application file was completed about three weeks ago and im still anxiously waiting for a decision :confused:

My son received his acceptance letter today. No scholarship. Tulane was his reach school. Unweighted GPA 3.54 at a private jesuit school with academic rigor, school does not weight or rank. ACT 31, 3 APs(all As), elected secretary of the senior class, 2 varsity sports, lots of leadership and service.

Does anyone know how many admitted students receive each award? I can’t find this out on their website…

@helpimsoconfused

It isn’t a fixed number each year. Probably about 25% or so get some partial merit award. Of course some of those go on to get full awards, about 5% of the entering class I would say. But as far as breaking down the different partial awards, that is not published and would be very hard to guess.

@fallenchemist thanks for being so helpful!

I have one last question, but I am not sure if you can help me with it: Is the Class of 2020 group on Facebook only for students who are going? Or also those who are very likely to choose Tulane but can’t decide just yet?

I know they create a group for students that are for sure going, but that is usually later. I am guessing that this one is for anyone thinking about Tulane, but I’ll take a look later.

So D applied early last week and hasn’t heard anything yet. Struggled on which test score to send as they are a little all over the place. Sent last round of ACT - E34, M25, R33, S25. Sent SATs which are 1950 and 720 Lit II. She has a S31 on another test but the other scores for that date are a little out of sync. Should she send the ACT that has a 31S even if composite is a point lower? If they superscored she’d have a 31 with all 3 dates.

@sleepyparent It won’t hurt if you send. They don’t super score, but they may note higher subsections? Or they put the composite down Z and not even look at the subs.

Does anyone from the south (NC, SC, Georgia) have an acceptance yet? I had a completed application a week and a half ago and haven’t heard anything, yet people in other parts of the country have heard back earlier.
