any extra packing i should include

ive got the regular stuff like clothes,tv and bed sheets but is their anything not on the list that you would suggest taking. like im going to costco on the weekend for candy, water and stuff, you think i should pick up some ping pong balls/16 oz cups for beirut or will their be some. any suggestions of weird but needed stuff that isnt on the list........leaving end of august

Shower sandals are really important.

Try making a list of everything you use throughout the course of a day.

Something nearly everyone on my freshman hall forgot-- a stapler. They ended up using mine 24/7.

Don't tell anyone you have a stapler. They might steal it. And then you'll have to set the building on fire.

the red swingline!

and here's what you do to make sure no one takes it: http://www.thinkgeek.com/cubegoodies/toys/61b7/action/

haha i heart the office

i wouldnt suggest buying the solo cups/balls. youll probably play beirut at parties in houses, where these items are provided. a lot of freshman dorms are strict with drinking in the dorms, so go elsewhere to party.

I recommended purchasing a CrispAir Light bulb. I helps to get rid of cigarette smoke, odors and bacteria - its perfect for an enclosed room. You can buy it at Amazon.com.

I also recommend rolls of quarters for laundry. Light sleepers should take an eye mask and ear plugs - it helps if your roommate is staying up later than you. My roommate wasn't loud, but even if she stayed up typing and using her desk light it kept me awake. the eye mask and ear plugs allowed her to study and let me sleep. just make sure you can still hear your alarm!

hahaha who calls it beirut? The game is Beer Pong, plain and simple.

i have heard both. everyone knows what you are talking about and that is all that matters.

You've posted the exact message about the CrispAir lightbulb on 8 different boards today.

Can you share any information on why you think these work?

In a similar vein of the bring a stapler thing, bring a pair of scissors. EVERYONE always uses mine; you'd think scissors would be basic enough to remember but......

where do you get rolls of quarters?

You get a roll of quarters from the bank.

^^^^^
At the bank.

Go through that A-Z list and just delete the things you think you'll NEVER use. I've gotten so much... a little worried about fitting everything lol.

This may sound weird, but my son really liked having the Brita water pitcher to use. He got the one called "space saver" or something like that; it fit in door of microfridge. He hated the taste of the tap water and as he drinks lots of water, this cut down on making runs to buy cases of bottled water.

mkm56 - what type of pitcher? I tried one a couple years ago, and frankly, I couldn't tell the difference between the filtered water and tap water, lol. Maybe Brita has improved over the years?

With the amount of water I drink, I shudder to think of the number of bottles I'd go through per DAY.

Pretty sure it was Brita. The color was blue and it is a somewhat flattened shape to fit in the door. We don't use one here at home as our well water is great, but he thought the dorm tap water tasted awful (maybe the old pipes?).

How do you use those brita things? Do you put regular tap water in it? Then it comes out filtered?
