I'm surprised your D didn't make it. I'm 1370/710/700/700 (bio m, chem, writing) 8/77 rank 3.85uw a few local and national awards (RPI Medal Award). I don't even have too many ECs (NJ Science League, Mu Alpha Theta, NHS, Youth Group Leader - that's about it) and I got in. I'm a biochem major - maybe her major choice had something to do with it - did you say what she intended to major in yet?? Of course, I'm from NJ and I'm the first person in 19 years to apply to Madison from my school and I bet not too too many people apply there from NJ, so I bet that helped. I hope she gets in - I visited during Thanksgiving and it was great - plus my dad lives in Milwaukee so I'd be relatively close to him. Hope your D makes it!

thanks for the words of encouragement for D. i also saw the 50% deferred-accept rate state but as we all know that was LAST YEAR, and it could change a lot THIS YEAR. seems to happen all the time in the admissions game, primarily from the increasing number of excellent kids that apply to the better schools.

as for you crypto, you probably studied a lot harder than my D, bless her heart, and you chose a tough field so perhaps that helped with your app. I would be certain she did not declare a major throwing her into the largest pool of apps. think a 3.6 or higher would've helped but just guessing. instead, let me congratulate you for your hard work and being rewarded for it. and any person who wants to be, or enjoys being, near Dad is okay in my book too. good luck.

i have a 1210 sat with 4 GPA (Weighted- calculated only from junior - senior 1st semester).. Maybe if I calculate my unweighted from freshman - senior.. it will be around 3.2 / 3.3.. (but I went to a really harsh school where getting A's is really hard during sophomore and freshman years).. btw im out of state

I checked on the website, and to my shock, it told me I was admitted.

I wouldn't worry though, they told me that they'd make a decision by March 15th. I doubt they released even half of their decisions from the deferred pool.

I just got in after being deferred, 1260/3.5 weighted. Its the best school i got into but i have to choose between that and Indiana University who gave $5,000 a year. Think Wisconsins reputation is worth giving up the $20,000?
