Anyone from Pakistan who...?

awesome man.....

Thanks. I am also going to bring a couple of Aitchisonains into the fray as soon as data allows. Pray.

I'm waiting for this year's results to come out, see whose lucky... :P

this is really depressing.

I am not sure whether our green man is "encouraged" by these

yeah, two sides to the coin :D

Lol its greenboy and actually I was expecting stuff like this. The Ivies I've applied to are the less competitive half (cornell, brown, dartmouth and penn) as opposed to yale, harvard, princeton and columbia all of which have acceptance rates below 10%. And most of these guys are concerned with HYPC. Besides the point of this thread was to see if Pakistanis got in and since there are several that have, I find it encouraging. Kids from my school have gone to Penn and Cornell so I still believe I have chance. If not I have several other options. Wish me luck and thanks.

I'm glad you got the "other options" :D

By the way, what are your stats? (If you don't mind telling, obviously!)

My stats:

SAT 1: 2180 (CR 690, M 800, W 690)
SAT 2: 2350 (Maths1 800, Maths2 780, Physics 770)
School doesn't do GPA but I had a class rank of 2 out of 67
O Levels: 10 A's and 1 B
1 A in A Levels (only gave maths)
APs: Calculus AB 5, Physics B 5, Macroeconomics 5, English 4
TOEFL (iBT): 113

ECs are okay nothing exceptional: 5-6 internships, 3 summer schools, loads of cricket and school activities

^ I hate to admit this, but you'll be lucky to get in one of CBDP. So pray and keep your options open. Wide open.

I dont think he is applying for aid. Pretty good shot i'd say.

Unless i am wrong about the aid part in which case things may be more precariouslypoised for our green friend here

Unless i am wrong about the aid part in which case things may be more precariously poised for our green friend here

Aid or no aid, he's an international student. All right he's taken APs and has all As in O Levels, but his chances are still slim. The RD applicant pools for CBDP have all risen and it remains to be seen how fewer applicants they select, bearing in mind most of them took more than their fair share in ED.

If he is not asking for aid. he is a catch. he'll get into a tleast two.

His academics seem really strong! 4-5 internships makes it sound even better! Asking for no aid, definitely a strong point! "Green boy" - I think you have a strong chance!

Actually apart from UPenn, which I applied ED (got deferred), I've appled for aid everywhere. So yeah I knew from the beginning my chances were slim in the Ivies even though Dartmouth just became need-blind. Others I'm applying to include Washington University in St. Louis, Amherst (need-blind), Williams (need-blind), Middlebury (need-blind). And I got Brandeis, Rochester and LUMS as safeties. With the economic crisis and number of increased applicants I know I'll be very lucky to make it into an Ivy. But you know what, after being on this forum for two months I have learnt that luck is THE biggest factor in getting in cause everyone applying is brilliant so it is like a random draw to some extent.

random draw - not entirely true! =/
Amherst (need-blind), Williams (need-blind), Middlebury (need-blind) - I think its for US students only! I'm not sure though...

I said random draw to some extent. Of course I didn't mean they just pull out some names and admit those people. I was merely saying that when you have so many similar applicants to chose from it tends to end with one being picked with no clear adantage over the others. Oh and Amherst, Williams and Middlebury are need-blind for internationals which is why I applied to them.
