kahlo says that she isn't a surrealist, actually.

so, we have Ernst, Dali, and Magritte.

No, I haven't seen the pic. of that lady's head with the breasts and a vagina for her face, it sounds interesting...maybe i'll look it up tonight..

Sargent and Goya

jasper johns...what movement?

i think he meant as artists who painted portraits??

i was referring to two artists who painted portraits.

yeah i didn't see that questions until 10 seconds ago. sorry, you scared me for a minute.

jasper johns dealt with the really weird pictures...optical illusions...i'm not sure what movement, damnit.

lol...anywayz, i'll be back later on tonight..i have to study and brush up on pop art and realism..

it was pop art.

good luck siren.

thanks!! one more question before I leave...

what does serpentine refer to?

the twisting of figures (as in baroque and hellenistic)

Hans Hobein the younger
Picasso

Name two narrative pieces

the victory steele of naram-sin, of course. trajan's column.

Amina - Figura Serpentina refers to Mannerism, not Baroque. Hellenistic art maybe, but only indirectly as an influence on Mannerism.

This is how I'm thinking of it: (want to put it in the correct order?)

Renaissance - linear, realistic, emotional, reglious
Mannerism - twisted, exaggerated emotion, halfway between Ren and Bar
Baroque - indoor, secular scenes (or Christian scenes with a secular flair), dark and resembling Titian's reds and yellows; architecture was convex/concave
Rococo - there's debate as to whether this exists. It's a refinement of Baroque in that it's a realistic and exuberant display of emotion
Neoclassicism - back to classical influences, lots of political stuff. David, Ingres, in America jefferson
Romanticism - looks like Baroque but usually set outside. Goya, Gericault, Delacroix
Realism - political, but reflective. FSA, etc
Impressionism - its pretty obvious.

Hey, can someone please tell the differences between Renaissance, Baroque and Neoclassical architecture. They look so similar. O.O

Oh god...I'm so going to fail this guys!!

T_T... ditto.

i think i meant mannerism. also, i said hellenistic because my teacher mentioned it when we studied the laocoon sculpture.

anyway.

the more you worry, the worse you will do. just know some flexible pieces and you will be fine. i think that getting 60% of the multiple choice is going towards a 4. just relax before you forget everything.

good luck.

Wow. that's reassuring, Amina. Do you know a possible "rubric" for scoring? I remember my ap english teacher had a chart where, e.g. 115 total "points" is a 5. (Multiply essay scores by a certain number, multiple choice score by a certain number, add to get the "points")

And.. for more questions: Differentiate Leonardo and Michelangelo's painting styles.
