Appeal Process

What specific stats? Instate; 3.85 GPA/4ptscale; 31 ACT; 2030 SAT; 1,000 hrs < community service; a wide variety of extracurriculars (A Capella, plays, choir, leadership, NHS, science competitions, mock trial). I got my letter today. I’m officially a Husky!!!

@madhusky2019‌ And the tension builds…I was also waitlisted this year. I hand delivered both my purple waitlist form as well as my appeal on the 30th (I think). Yesterday I received an email (Tue, Apr 7, 2015 at 12:02 PM) saying they had received my waitlist information and I have been placed on the waitlist for the 2015 academic year. This is my second year of UW CHS, so I have always been able to see my unofficial transcript. I was able to complete my Housing Profile, like you were. I received no letter today from the UW. Did you also receive the email about being put on the waitlist? My application status reads exactly as it did when I was placed on the waitlist and when I was waiting for a response. Congrats on being a husky :wink:

@HesitantHSSenior‌ THANK YOU!!!

I recieved an email acknowledging my waitlist confirmation letter being recieved on Mar 27. I recieved a letter via USPS (no email) informing me that they are processing my petition on Mar 30. My Transcript and housing info loaded on Tuesady, April 7 and letter in the mail today accepting me. Hope that timeline is helpful to you all. The status in myUW application link says what it did prior to my being waitlisted, I’m hearing that it takes 48-72 hours to change to the “Accepted” one. I’m just anxiously awaiting that so I can confirm my acceptance and submit my commitment deposit! Housing app doesn’t open until May 1, so there is still plenty of time for everyone there.

@madhusky2019‌ Housing app doesn’t open until May 7th

Oops. I meant May 7. My bad. It was an innocent typo mistake, as I said though, plenty of time for those with petitions to get replies back before this timeline.

@madhusky2019‌ Wait, so they mailed you twice? One letter saying they are reviewing your appeal and the second letter saying you were admitted? :slight_smile:

@worrybug‌ That is correct. The first letter said they recieved my petition and were reviewing it, second letter said ACCEPTED :smiley:

@madhusky2019 I mailed my appeal this Monday and my status online changed yesterday saying they received my appeal. But my unofficial transcript and housing still doesn’t work. Is this a bad sign? :frowning:

Mine didn’t load until about 6 days after they recieved my petition. I got The BIG Envelope today!! It was unexpected and so exciting even though I already knew they accepted me.

I wouldn’t take it as a bad sign. We’re you waitlisted or denied? I’m guessing waitlisted petitions might be processed faster because they already approved you to enrol, just not enough room to admit.

Did you feel comfortable with your petition? Did you have solid letters of support? If those feel good for you, just hang tight! Don’t give up hope! I hope that’s helpful! Good luck!!!

Thank you! @madhusky2019 Your words are truly encouraging. I hope it works out for me so we can be future classmates!

Congrats to people who were accepted via appeal!

I hope it works out for everyone else as well.

Just got the letter today in the mail. My appeal was denied.

@madhusky2019 ,

Have you received an invitation to the UW private app or the welcome packet? I got my BIG Envelope off of the appeal almost two weeks ago and I have yet to get either. Perhaps they simply don’t send the big packet to late acceptances.

Also, I would double check the validity of May 1st being the housing application date. I’m pretty sure I read May 7, but I could be wrong!

@HesitantHSSenior I am sorry to hear that! :frowning: How long was your letter? & What new info did you have? If you were waitlisted you still have hope too!

Has anyone heard back yet?

Rejected from appeal. Recieved the letter approximately 2 weeks after recieved

@GuitarHusky Yes, if you see above I noted in a follow up post that the May 1 was a mistake (typo). May 7 is the date housing opens to Freshmen.

I do have the App and have some other info but not the full packet yet, though FinAid has been in touch with my mom after I released FERPA. I’m confidant everything will show up soon. I’m told they don’t treat petition acceptances any differently. A Husky is a Husky. All new students need the same info, it’ll come!

We paid our fee for the A&O and parent class (essentially the commitment fee) and have registered for that as well as sent the Measles form in, so only fin aid remains unknown so far. Most of the I fo can be found in your MyUW account if you poke around. That’s what I did with my mom this weekend to get oriented and organized.

Good luck everyone!
:slight_smile:

@worrybug Thinking of you and hoping for good news!!

@HesitantHSSenior I’m sorry. I’m sure you’ll have a great college experience no matter! Also, waitlisted candidates still have potential. Good luck!

Appeal was denied, although I must say I did expect it!

@uwhusky1997 Did you ever get a letter or email that your petition was received? I know whatever path you take will be great :slight_smile:
