Ok I'm Indian, and a first generation student here in America. I'm really worried because I screwed up my freshman and sophomore year (according to my standards). My EC's are also lacking. I'm currently a junior. I've already predicted my complete stats, and here they are:
GPA: 3.44
GPA W: 3.67
Class rank: Top 25%
SAT I: New edition, will get 2050/2400
SAT II: Not taken yet, as I am only a junior. Will expect 700+ on all.
Essay: Fairly Decent
Recommendations: Fairly Decent
I will have taken 6 AP/Honor courses by graduation.

EC's
2 years tennis Junior+Senior
Key Club Senior year
1000 Hours Community Service

Now, here's what my gpa's my 4 years are:
Freshman: 2.4 - No EC's this year, or any AP/Honors classes.
Sophomore: 3.5 - No EC'S this year, or any AP/Honors classes.
Junior: 4.0 - Took Honors Alg II, Played Tennis.
Senior: 4.8 - Took Honors Precalc, AP Chem, AP Phys, AP Lit, AP Spanish III, and a non AP class, forgot which, Played Tennis.

I'm a smart person, but I never kept it to much use lol. I'm applying to:
Washington @ St. Louis
Missouri University @ St. Louis
Stanford, b/c I heard they don't look at freshman year?
I want to major in chemical/aerospace engineering also.

Can you guys evaluate my chances please, I've been going crazy these past few weeks!
- Thanks

Noone in the COUNTRY has taken the new SATs yet and you're expecting a 2050/2400? And you're predicting a 4.8 when you haven't even gotten through junior year yet? Get rid of your arrogant attitude or you'll have a lot of trouble getting into college.

I'm not arrogant, its just that I have been studying like crazy for the new sat, and I never took the old ones. I've taken practice ones for the new sat, and I've gotten 1950-2050. Also, I am very strong in the classes I talked about senior year. I've bought all the books for those classes, and have been reading them in spare time since the middle of 04. I strongly suspect I will succeed in those classes, and that's what I'd call confidence, not arrogance. I've found a formula to calculate my GPA given by my counselor. Btw, Jasonx, have you ever heard of practice SAT's? You know, the ones in books, etc? THX. I know what I can and what I can't do, and I didn't ask for rude criticism.

Yes, and practice SATs cannot fully predict how you do on the SATs themselves; I was in the 1200 range on many practices yet I got a 1540 on the real thing.

Come back when you actually have the data for your standardized tests and junior/senior year grades, not just a bunch of "confident" predictions.

very true, jason, espcially how you put for your title "bad gades but good sat" you havent even taken your SATs yet, and that's your title? that is ALOT of confidence you have there. also, its your junior year, instead of going on here to ask for strangers to predict your chances for you, why dont you use this year and actually MAKE your "predictions" happen. basically, about more than 50% of your posts are you predictions, how can anyone help you evaluate your chances when what we use to base our evaluations on are also predictions. also, you said you're "confident," not arrogant, and yet, you have a line saying "i'm a smart person." if you ARE that smart, than freshman year had to be loaded with AP/IBs in order for such a smart person to get a 2.4 gpa. sorry, but you might wanna try again next year when your stats are stats, not predictions.

I didn't mean to make myself seem arrogant when I wrote that i was a smart person. I just thought the pathetic freshman GPA would make you guys think that I was stupid.
Since you won't see it my way, can we just please pretend that this already happened? Pretend I have already graduated and just submitted my application, atleast help me that way? I understand what you're saying, and you're right, but I have confidence in myself.. Hell, when I took my ACT's I had a 28 from practice, and ended up with a 29 on the real thing. This semester, I predicted my grades to be a 4.16, and thats what happened. I just want to know IF these were my final statistics, would I have a decent chance at one of my top choices? I know these are all based on predictions, but if I recieve some input from you guys I can understand what I need to do, and what I don't need to do. You never know that other people on these forums do the same thing, not saying they do, but what IF someone in my position said they were a senior? I just want an honest response. I have confidence in myself to do what I need to do, and I wanted to know how far these possible accomplishments would get me.

P.S.- I believe Albert Einstein was a genius, but he never did great in school now did he? And I'm not in the SLIGHTEST way suggesting I'm as smart as him, lol. Most of the guys on this board are probably better than me.

Albert Einstein also lived in an era where very few people went on to college, there wasn't nearly the competition, and he moved here from Eastern Europe...

Okay - even with your predicted stats, you have very weak ECs, which will prevent you from getting into Stanford, and if you want a shot at Washington U in St Louis or Missouri U then you'll need at least a 2250 (assumption, because I don't know how new SATs will be scaled) and stellar recommendations/essays.

Einstein from Eastern Europe. real smart NJPitcher. I dont know if you know this - he dropped out of several colleges and went to work as a patent office worker. Only after he formulated his theories did he receive recognition from the great universities. So using him in comparisons is pointless.
