Bank of America Student Leaders 2011

@wiltons

You think so? This isn’t good. I thought it would be due tomorrow for some reason.

Can someone find the actual deadline?

EDIT: “The deadline for the NEI Student Leader Application is Friday, January 14, 2011.”

Looks like they extended it! :)

So has the deadline really been extended? I called them, and it went straight to voicemail. Plus, I thought that the due date would have been 11:59:59 PM on the 12th, not the 11th. It doesn’t make sense for it to be due then if it is due on the 12th

^does that deadline include the recommendation? or is the recommendation still due on Jan. 12?

haha, they don’t actually prefer it to be uploaded. I was kind of trying to shape my wording around what I was going to say to my English teacher so as to have her upload it herself. It’s more convenient for them but (after speaking with, like, 5 different people) it’s not actually going to affect if you get in or not. :)

Is there a spot to put what market you’re applying to? I don’t see one.

wait so did they really extend the deadline?

If you log on to your application, you can see the deadline of January 14, 2011, in red at the top of the first page that appears.

It is possible that the deadline was extended because schools will be closed for the third consecutive day in Charlotte (where Bank of America is headquartered) and in other locations.

Just a heads up to everyone–when I called this morning, the lady said the applications had to be in by 8:00 PM Eastern time. Is the deadline extended for sure? The front page says Friday, January 14, but the rest of the application still says January 12th.

I just submitted today! Best of luck to everyone who decides to apply. And if you need the extra few days, it’d probably be fine to submit before the new deadline; I can’t imagine them retracting their front page statement.

Meanwhile, if any past Student Leaders see this, could you share around how many hours you had when you first applied?

I’m wondering because I’ve heard figures of several thousand hours with an average of about 600-800. However, I’ve only done about 250 hours. Anyone care to elaborate/share how many hours you’ve done?

anyone apply from the new jersey area?

and anyone who applied last year know how competitive it is? I dont have several thousand hours as well I have about 300 too.

I also have about 300 hours + a two-week stay in rural China teaching extremely poor middle-schoolers. So I hope the standards aren’t too high or rather that they matter more on what you’ve done versus how many hours you’ve done.

Did anyone else submit a resume?
I’m still not completely sure if I want to create one, but I’d hate to be regarded as less significant because I didn’t… though the additional info would only be details on what I’ve done and musical awards, not much related to community service that wasn’t already mentioned in my counselor’s rec.

I live in MD but live equal distance between Baltimore and D.C., so not entirely sure where it will apply me to - MD probably.

I have High School soccer tryouts the last week of August, will this conflict with the internship. And also, I don’t recall filling out a spot to pick my area, do you have to manually enter it somewhere, or does it go by your zip code when you first start a new application?

I will submit my application in the St Louis, MO market tomorrow. Good luck everyone

I’m finishing up my app right now. My volunteer hours look a tad… lopsided. I put 350 hours for my ASB officer duties, and then my biggest one after that is 10 hours. haha, ASB & baseball basically were my life for the past year. I’m from the Bay Area, so I’m expecting some stiff competition. Wish me luck, and good luck to all of you!

Hey me too, I am from San pablo. I am confused with the deadline can someone clear it up. the app on the beginning it says the January 14, 2011 but then it also says January 12, 2011. @ wackowasko what school do you go to

I think the application deadline really was pushed back; and if not, they can’t blame you for thinking so since it’s on the opening page in big red letters.

Does anyone know if fundraising/donating and school activities count as service? (I’m on class council, peer leadership group, NHS board, DECA board, etc. where I do a ton of organizing and fundraising, but they’re not directly “service”)

I just called - they said they definitely pushed the deadline back to Friday for the whole application. The recommendations do not have to be in today. Im really glad they pushed it back. Could really use the extra few days to really look over my app.

I’ve been wondering, what is the selection process like?

Is there a series of stages involving interviews?

I haven’t found any info about that.

just to help anyone else who is still applying, i just realized why the application kept losing my essays…

the boxes say 1000 CHARACTER MAX not 1000 WORD MAX.

I have to go back and cut all of my essays down now.

Hi all!
I’m also applying and i’m from the San Francisco market!
I called the number and it said the Student Leaders program was extended to Midnight Eastern Time on January 14th!
SO glad! =)
Anyone know if the SF market does interviews? or other forms to elimination besides the application?
