Hey guys!
I’m applying for the Silicon Valley market, and I’m sure the competition is really stiff in my area. I’m really scared because I’m not sure if one of my recs was written on school letterhead. Other than that, though, I’m not sure if I’m qualified enough. I do have around 1000 hours, but they are in a variety of activities, so I hope that they still count.
Good Luck to everyone!

hey so is the deadline extended to tonight, like when its 12 am, or is it until tomorrow night, like before friday ends at midnight…?

Tomorrow night, as in 1/14 at 11:59:59 PM eastern time.

Submitted- Phoenix Region

It feels good to be done.

I hope the hours doesn’t matter as much because I have so much variety of volunteers that I couldn’t even put all of them ><"
and the 1000 character limit, a bit too strict…!

Just submitted in the Jersey market. Feels so good to just be done with it! Hopefully it pays off. Good luck to everyone!

did anybody else apply to Detroit?

Good luck to everyone who applied! Did anyone apply to the Nashville market?

I just applied from Philadelphia. And I submitted it at 12:20 AM. Do you think they’re still gonna consider it?

I think they’ll still consider it, but I think that it’ll affect their decision to an extent. If you’re applying to something such as an internship, a job, or anything of that sort, it looks bad on your behalf if you can’t follow the guidelines and go over the word limit or submit the application late.

I hope the Sacramento region isn’t TOO competitive. The city is not quite as large as some others and I don’t know anyone that submitted an application.

@gocubs22 im from the detroit area. I applied. =] hope to be meeting you in the summer.

Im super nervous. I noticed two typos in my app after submitting. not major. just grammatical errors in the essays because they required so much frequent condensing.

I can’t wait to find out if i was selected or not. So while we wait…

where does everyone volunteer? What type of service do you like? I do service with buildOn (over 310 hours to date), and JROTC.

I’m a BoA SL from 2010 (Los Angeles market). They got about 350 applicants and because we’re such a large market there were 10 Student Leaders chosen.

Does anyone know how competitive the Providence, RI market is?
Really want to know. Thanks

how do you know the average number of applicants for your area/market?

What usually sets an applicant apart from others/

^good question.
holla from the Inland Empire area. how many peeps get accepted from here?

The waiting game begins. Good Luck to everyone hope we all get in!

The same amount of people are accepted per site, which is five.

I’m guessing there’s really no way to find out how competitive a site is until after people have gotten accepted.

Los Angeles accepts 10 people in their market, since it is such a large market.

So I was planning on applying to this and I went to their site and clicked apply, and it lets me create an account. but before I went too far in the process, I saw this thread and you guys said the deadline was January 14 or something.

So how come I can still apply if that was the deadline? D:
someone please answer ASAP!(:
thankyouu

They allow you to create an account, but the system won’t allow you to actually file an application for the 2011 program.

If you’re a junior, you can always apply next year for the 2012 program. Those applications will be open in the Fall of 2011 I believe.
