Waiting in Florida here. I hope it comes tomorrow.

international, got an email i think a couple of hours ago? not in, but not shocked. still, it was the first school i’ve heard from, and it doesn’t bode that well.

I got waitlisted at Vassar and accepted to Barnard so I wouldn’t worry. Also the mail takes longer now because of post office lay-offs in this area so don’t worry guys! I’m sure you’ll be getting news soon

@purplehellokitty what are your stats? and congrats on getting in!!

i’ve got a 2080 with an 800 on the writing, SAT IIs in the 700s, and a 31 ACT with 35 and 36 on the two english sections. 3.9 GPA with a severe inclining trend during the four years. captain of debate team, two internships on congressional campaigns, compiler and editor of “Dear Mr. Potter” which raised 45k for charity (and a letter of rec from the charity’s executive director), good recs, and I was very confident about my essay/supplements. My admissions officer also knew who I was by the end of the process, I talked to her twice. I hate to ask to be chanced, but… chance me? My nerves refuse to be calmed.

I was just accepted to Barnard and I’m from NY. Did a lot of people start getting decisions back?

what are you stats np9494, if you don’t mind me asking? :)

also. did anybody who applied for fin aid not send in their tax returns…???

If I didn’t get an email w/ my decision should I be worried?

^Only international students get emails. If you are domestic, don’t worry quite yet!

Has anyone from VA or close by heard anything yet? For those of you who have heard, will you please tell us what state if you haven’t already?

Most of the people receiving letters today have already said where they are from. Short answer: NY & NJ. Scroll up for more details.

We didn’t get a letter today in Delaware. Seems like only very close to NYC heard today- good luck tomorrow!

i’m in maryland and i haven’t received anything yet

If Amazon can get my Buffy DVDs from Oregon to Michigan in two days, Barnard should be able to get our decisions to us. Definitely sick of the waiting - I applied in October.

^I’m from MD also, and nothing. I really don’t think I’ll get in because Barnard only accepts 1-2 people per year from my school, and someone already got in ED. Oh well…still hoping and keeping my head UP :)

hahaa i feel ya musicsweetie! two people girls in my grade got in ed and i go to a small school.

That must be hard…
Hope you get in!
Does your school have Naviance? I’m really curious as to what the GPA averages are for acceptance. My GPA is pretty low, and I’m not sure if Barnard is one of those schools that weights really heavily on it.

what’s naviance?
hahah my gpa is not very good… probably the weakest part of my application. barnard does look at the entire applicant and not just her numbers but i heard they focus more on gpa than on test scores. but who really knows?

I’m confused. My friend just told me that she just got a rejection letter in the mail from Barnard today. She lives in nj.

What’s confusing? Letters were mailed yesterday, and people in NY and NJ got all three kinds of decisions today. Scroll up for several examples.

I’m starting to realize that a lot of people just don’t have any experience with snail mail. It’s not like email. It has to be physically transported, so the farther away you are from the sender, the longer it takes to reach you. Well, in steps of a day.

@UP- Naviance is this database thing that keeps track of all the people who were rejected/accepted/waitlisted to schools, and it calculates average GPAs and stuff like that. I guess your school doesn’t have it…maybe because it’s small. Yeah, from the looks of it, I think Barnard also places more emphasis on GPA, rather than test scores. The average test score is like a 31 ACT, 2050 SAT, but 4.5 wgpa. I definitely don’t have a 4.5, and it seems like very few people who have less than that are accepted.

Dairy- I think she was one of the few. Most of the applicants didn’t get anything yet–don’t freak out (although I should probably follow my own advice).
