well.....compared to saks and barneys...macys and nordstrom is low end

All I have to say is that its more how you wear it than what you wear. I know some classy girls who can wear a&f and not look like hookers, and I know some guys that can pull off the look without looking like broke porn stars. I'm sure that some brands are more popular than others at boarding school, but as long as you dress with class (not walking advertisements) I'm sure no one will make fun of you... I hope.

wait, how do you wear a&f and look like a hooker? ive never seen that and everyone at my school wears a&f (or the other brands). at my school it's not whether you wear a&f and look unclassy, it's more if you wear it and look like a poser

Well, you're not staying at your school are you? I don't get it. I mean, if you want everything to be so much like the school you keep talking about, why don't you just stay?

well, i like (maybe even love) my life but i think ill LOVEEEEEE my life if i go to boarding school. but if i dont ill be okay. im hoping boarding school will be like my school but even better. i want it to have the same foundation but better perks i guess (i dont know how to explain it. hope you understand)

You're joking right?

The most fashionable, old money, retreats (cough cough schools) are as follows:

Hotchkiss, Deerfield, SPS, and Groton. They are the ones that have true preppy style and I assure you Abercrombie is NOT fashionable there. No one will look down at you for wearing it but its considered fake and not attractive.

^ HAHAH OMG those are my top schools LOL

Abercrombie is kind of for losers at my school people wear like Christian Audigier and Juicy and trrue religion and stuff like that

uhh..as a true exonian, i feel like i should defend my school's rep for being nerdy and unfashionable as perzomat (idk if that's even right but i'm too lazy to go back and check) claims, but...i don't really feel like getting into a catty fight about something as lame as that. :]

Wow. This... is... pitiful, lol.

I'm the OP, and I guess it falls under the category, it's just HILARIOUS reading all of the debate on class and what's 'prep'.

Urbandictionary, people: A prep's wardrobe consists of some expensive clothing, but they've had it for the better part of a decade--excluding the two Vineyard Vines polos they got for their birthday and the 50% off sale at Brooks Brothers--indicating the true preppy trait of valuing "classic" over "trendy". We don't buy into the Lacoste trend of now, but we will gladly wear "handed down from dad" Lacoste polo shirt when it still maintained an association with Izod, which was well before it became the token icon of a sold out, soulless and materialistic world.

oh and um, thingslost?
"Abercrombie is sooo cheap. It's disgusting."
spoken with the voice of a true, narrow-minded, shallow, american consumer. :)

what's the harkness club?

Oh krncowlovar, learn to take a joke will you? Let's not get catty. This board was started as a joke; you should know better than to take anything in this board that seriously. But I do realize that some people who own A&F clothes may get seriously offended by my comment, and I apologize. :D Happy Holidays!

Narrow-minded? American? Consumer? 1 out of 3 is not bad... :P
Seriously krncowlovar? How do you even know that thingslost is American? Are you just assuming? Also, narrow-minded & shallow? Krncowlovar, have you met pot and kettle? Since you say american consumer like it's a bad thing, you must be neither be American or a consumer. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, and you shouldn't bash people for stating it.

"narrow-minded, shallow, american consumers" help the world economy just a tiny tiny tiny really really small amount right?

HEY GUYS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

PEACE, LOVE, && HAPPINESS!!!!! -> they're the key ingredients to life!!!!!

what krncowlovar means is that americans spend a lot of money buying stuff. and if something is cheap, then apparently it also means it is disgusting to americans.

americans DO spend a lot of money buying stuff, you can't deny that. and america as a country, not its individual consumers, are what help the world economy. krncowlovar means that if something is cheap, you shouldn't call it digusting. that IS narrow-minded (I know that's not what thingslost intended to say) and shallow.you have no idea how much koreans love cheap abercrombie. your five dollar shirts are the equivalent of fifty bucks here.

To westcoast, now come on generalization is what got us in this mess now isn't it :) Anyways we should respect people no matter what they wear, and abercrombie's changing for the better, there's more material in their clothes to prevent visible promiscuity and less letters on their clothes.

i like the letters...............

like seriously i bought this $45 nike mini back pack and if it didnt have the nike check mark, the value would drop down to 5 bucks, and theyd still make a profit. frankly its all about the name and brand
