It would drop 30$...., but nike is quality. The name represents something you can trust and know will last a long time. I dont know anything about abercrombie other than all the girls wear it.

^^
"like seriously"
^
My new catch phrase.

Technically speaking, Abercrombie is well-made and made to last. It's just the fact that it's all so expensive and also the fact that once you step into the store it's as if they're trying to sell you a lifestyle rather than clothes. Even as a guy I get pretty angry that I don't at all resemble the 'visions of perfection' that they display as giant posters on their walls.

There isn't more material to prevent promiscuity there's more material because people ar getting fat. Just kidding I'm probably going to offend someone

Yay TOM!!! :D It's not because it's cheap that it's disgusting. I just think that its gross to be a walking advertisement for a store when the shirts say: ABERCROMBIE AND FITCH in big letters, which is the majority of the stuff they sell. I really have no problem (even though I wouldn't wear it) with clothes that only have the little moose. Also, most of it is not that great of quality (polyester) and then they sell it for like a $50, which is like the equivalent of a Ralph Lauren polo.

I don't have a strong opinion on this, but if I wear a collard shirt, its Ralph Lauren polo. I just think that the abercrombie sign causes so much talk that its not even worth it for the price.

Sorry to jump in, but just to make sure no one is mislead by these posts, what brand you wear at prep school really doesn't matter. It's how you present yourself. People wear clothes from places like Abercrombie, Vineyard Vines, Ralph Lauren, or Walmart. It really doesn't matter. I feel like some people need to be more respectful on this forum, because some people really can only afford clothes on sale from Walmart. Abercrombie is definitely not "cheap" and clothes shouldn't label people into stereotypes.

Oh boy. This is gonna be so much fun, this summer! If I get in, at least. Freaking out about what am I going to wear, what to bring, etc. etc.

My brands? American Eagle. Nice polos, LOVE their jeans (the only ones that fit my short legs and waist at the same time).
Aeropostale. Tank tops are awesome.
Target. Their graphic t-shirts are cuuute, they have nice shorts and athletic gear, love their wellies.
Old Navy. Cheap shirts and sweatpants, nice shoes and bags.

Am I going to be judged on what brands I wear? Certainly. I already am. Is it going to help that the majority of my peers will be wearing Ralph Lauren, Vinyard Vines, yes even Abercrombie and Fitch? Nope. I can't even afford the marked-down clearance shirts.

Woohoo!

Hey, I wear American Eagle. :D

I completely agree with you, tuesdayair!! I mean, some people should really think about those that can afford to spend $70 on a shirt. Plus, Walmart has some cute clothes!

by the way, is Exeter really like, badly dressed or something? isn't there some sort of dress code? what's the girls' dress code? Thanks! :)

Thanks mpicz!!

isnt american eagle in the same league as abercrombie and fitch along with hollister? i wouldnt exactly know though, ive never shopped at american eagle

No problemo....So do most of you guys actually prefer dress code? I have a dress code at my current school and I hate it, I like how Andover is more relaxed with that stuff...

Phillips Academy - An Independent Boarding High School ....the kid in the back has a hat on in class!, maybe that was a saturday class or something. Not sure if it makes a difference though.

okay so what (for girls) would you wear instead of jeans/sweats for the dress code? The tourguides at Choate said colored jeans or cords...but I can't find any cute ones ):
soo depressing....

colored jeans? o0o00o i have skinnies in purple, light blue, dark blue, red, yellow, and green. is that alright?

Post #166 - funny typo: collard shirt - as in that the shirt is made of the vegetable that is similar to kale? ;)

lol mpicz, that guy kinda looks like a slouch anyway

Lol ya I know tom! his hairs kind of out of control also, but seriously. A hat in class? I'm all for for being lax but that's kind of crazy.

Wait Brooklyn, how was that a typo. I meant collard as in collard shirt. collard shirts - Google Image Search

Collar*ed (with an e) is the correct spelling for the meaning "with a collar." Sorry, you're (NOT **your*) wrong. ;)
