Boarding school student traped in a independant school.....but only for 2 more months

<p>Hey guys i know alot of you may feel the same way as me about going to a public or a independant school, this thread is for all the those people who truly feel that they do not belong in a public school. for the respect of this thread, i have gone to a boarding school before so i know what it is like but i got let go( i explain the reason on another thread) and now i am going to an independant school for the rest of the year. all right here we go</p>

<p>this is your school (enter school here)
- you come to class early and still get no respect from my teachers
- you sit at the front of the class but i still get destracted
- you sit in class and just wait about 10-15 minutes for the teacher to quite down the class at the start of the period
- in some classes the teacher teaches for about 45 minutes then the last 30 minutes kids yell and scream and mess around and play guitars in a biology class? and i sit there and wait
- you try to empress my teachers with my knowledge but usually get misunderstood and people cant understand me because it is too "advanced for the class"
- you make smart comments and get mean looks by other kids
- you try to casualy talk with my teacher but it feels "awkward"
- you feel to mature for your grade even though your in the grade you should be its just the other students are very immature
- your teacher has too teach at a lower level to accomadate the lower level students so you get no enrichment
-your clases are oversized with arrogant and ignorant students who come to class on drugs or smell like smoke
- you pity drugies and people who party and drink and make and "ass" of themselve at partys</p>

<p>this is EXACTLY how I feel! and my school is ‘good’! and they got rid of 8th gr. honors too -.-"</p>

<p>finally someone feels the same way as i do!</p>

<p>I think thats most lol I could go on abt the failures of the USAs education system. </p>

<p>NO CHILD LEFT BEEHIND! -.-"</p>

<p>but alas my dad wants the cmptr :(</p>

<p>so true!!!</p>

<p>no child left behind = no child gets ahead. asdfghjkl!</p>

<p>my district’s cutting back by about 15 mil this year. ouch. we’re not that big of a school district, either, so i wouldn’t be surprised if there were school closures…</p>

<p>this is my school:

  • there are classes with 33 people, when the legal limit is 30
  • when fights break out, no one bats a lash
  • if you use a word that’s longer than 12 letters, people basically drop their jaws in awe
  • in english class, you READ for 90 minutes (whole class), bell goes, teacher says “no homework, guys!”. cheer.
  • people even skip gym class
  • if you go to a university that’s out of province, you’re basically hailed as God
  • boarding school is perceived as military school
  • band class is basically free block
  • in HONORS math, your teacher advises you on which hotel to stay in if you ever go to Brussels
and on and on and on and on…</p>

<p>^^^^^^My school EXACTLY! Well, my future HS…And people go crazy when they hear Boarding School. They’re like, oh I don’t understand why you would want to go to a school where the teachers actually pay <em>GASP</em>ATTENTION TO YOU! I know its blasphemy. And my english teacher is quite neurotic = )</p>

<p>This is exactly how I feel! I’m going to a boarding school next year (Emma Willard) and, man, I just need time to go faster!</p>

<p>When my teachers found out about it it was just a disaster! My math teacher HELD ME AFTER CLASS for TEN MINUTES so he could discuss my “motives,” which pretty much consisted of me explaining how it was such an opportunity and then him replying constantly with “But why would you want to do such a thing?” </p>

<p>I’m so excited for a school where my classes are filled with students who want to learn and not those who just sit in the back of the class and trade their weed around and light water bottles on fire to make a bong IN THE MIDDLE OF CLASS.</p>

<p>my art class is pretty much a free block all my teacher does is come in the class and yells" alright grade 10s yours working on this today" and then she talks to another teacher for the rest of the class, she dosnt even “teach” us anything about art or technique she just assigns work?

  • on my second day of high school in grade 8 there was a fight that broke out in a park near my school against 2 grade 8’s and the whole school bascially went to watch. “so that really set the tone for the rest of the 3 years at the school”
  • public high school is a nightmare for intellectualy smart people it sucks</p>

<p>@SAMANTHAWSAHERE: My teachers had the same reaction when my friend got into Choate. They said it was irresponsible and selfish (!!!) So I am trying to keep my aplication process on the DL at my school for the time being. Congrats for getting into Emma Willard</p>

<p>Dive Alive: You stole That off me :p</p>

<ul>
<li>everyone at my school thinks boarding school is for “troubled kids” and they think it sucks</li>
<li>kids chew tabacco during class and drink alcohol in water bottles ( grade 9)</li>
<li>kids smoke weed in pipes in class and in the bathrooms</li>
<li>my school usually gets covered in graffiti every year near grad time</li>
<li>when in math class talking about " percent interests" your teacher tell you "(when your buying a used car you need to look for dents and check the insurance!)</li>
</ul>

<p>p.s isnt no child left behind just for kids with learning disabilities - and even though they fail there classes they pass them anyway so they can graduate?</p>

<p>@blue: haha yes, i have to admit i did  it was smart though! imitation is the highest form of flattery eheheh</p>

<p>Two of My inventions are used. I feel loved :p</p>

<p>My Public school isn’t great but it isn’t totally terrible either… Can’t wait to go to BS though. I’m just wishing the year away!</p>

<p>Blue are you the one going to Groton?</p>

<p>Well I’m not the only one probably going to Groton on CC but yes I am going to Groton.</p>

<p>figure out spelling/grammar, OP.
(sorry, all the errors are really bugging me, especially because I’m in the midst of an all-nighter for english and am therefore in English mode, which makes me a stickler for such things. I also use a lot of long, complicated, superfluous words in everyday speech when I’m in English mode. )</p>

<p>toodles (i’m also on a caffeine buzz).</p>

<p>HAHA BLUE, “Two of My inventions are used”. My with a capital M? you know what that reminds me of? God. hmm, could there be a relation?</p>

<p>haha don’t worry about izzy’s grammar woes, she goes to mx. she’s basically <em>required</em> to be a grammar nazi. jealous :frowning: ! their english program has a great reputation.</p>

<p>haha ok i was off-topic…
ANYWAYS
300 teacher / school admin folk are going to be laid off in my school district! and since it goes by union, it’s basically the new folk who are in hot water, which really sucks since so many old teachers have become jaded and frankly don’t care about the subject they’re teaching anymore, unlike the young, passionate, soon-to-be-laid-off teachers :frowning: they’re also cutting band!! how drastic…</p>

<p>That sucks. and yes God and I are related. Easter is a family reunion :p</p>

<p>ok, i’ll admit i won’t really miss band, that was solely for dramatic effect. sorry to all you pseduo-bohemian hipster musician folk that i insulted out there…</p>

<p>blue, when did you get over 2000 posts? holy, i feel behind.</p>

<p>this is my school (part 2):

  • if there’s an earthquake, we’re all doomed, since there are cracks in support columns that are covered with duct tape. health hazard?? sichuan earthquake repeat?
  • “OMG, harvard! that’s like, the best school evar!!11!eleven!!!1. i’ve heard of yale… wait, what’s princeton?”
  • people miss a part of exam week to go to a school rugby game… only to have the test made up by the teacher, due to the fact that “well, it’s almost summer anyways, what’s the harm”
  • you can read a book or doodle during basically every class, without a teacher noticing.
  • you can read a book or doodle during basically the entire school year, and pull off straight A’s
  • there are evident racial divides (no, i’m serious. it’s strange)
  • “dude, did we have math homework?” “yeah” “oh, darn… can i copy?” “sure.” “um, did we have socials or french homework, either…?” “…”
  • you can text study notes to each other, and the teacher won’t mind… yes, “study notes”</p>
