hey what about IVANHOE ? Now that sucked. What was that all about all that crap in it?

umm.m......wuthering heights

Alas, Babylon would've been a great book if the ending wasn't so lame.
And Harry Potter 5 and 6 made me cry. I adored 1-4, but those two almost made me hurt someone.

A Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man...OMG it's awful...

I forgot, Mrs. Dalloway is the worst book ever! I have no idea how i got through it.

i HATE anybook that a school requires you to read. reading should be done casually when you want to do it. not cram in 60 pages a night untill a 350 page book is done. Of course most kids do it, but how fun is it?

Some good books for people that are interested are:

No one here gets out alive- Bioagraphy on Jim Morrison and highly recommended to any Doors fan.
Confession by Tom petty- Another biography type book about Tom Petty, also highly recommended
Angles and Demons & The Davinci Code
Old war story books are always good too

This year I have had the pleasure to read some classics, but I didn't enjoy two of em - Madame Bovary and Crime and Punishment. Both were far too effeminate to me despite their male authors.

I think The Scarlet Letter and Huckleberry Finn are overrated immensely.

awwww...:(
you guys are naming my favorite books.

"Both were far too effeminate to me despite their male authors."

thats a stupid sentence. anyway, gustave flaubert uses emma bovary to express his ridicule for the french "middle class"...i liked the book.

The Scarlet Letter

i also didnt like Go Tell It on the Mountain... yuckkkk

but i did really like the Scarlet Letter and Huck Finn (reading it in class now).. i know, weird lol

when it comes to books we have to read in english class it depends A LOT on the teacher (i mean A LOT)

Worst book EVER:
The Yearling

Terrible story: takes place in swamp village, boy finds a young deer (yearling), they become friends, boy is told deer can't live w/ his family, deer gets shot and dies, the end. All that plus the fact that it was the required summer reading for H English a couple years ago definetly puts this in the "books that suck" category.

"There Eyes Were Watching God"

I couldn't stand that book

I LOVE Their Eyes Were Watching God especially Tea Cake.
But I thought Scarlett Letter was the most boring book I have ever read in my life.

After reading that part in "Their Eyes..." where the main character starts having intercourse with a pear tree (not actually of course), that was it for me.

I'm usually not in the mood to being reading about Dendrophilia, metaphorical or not.

twisted man good thing it wasnt a rose bush man....ouch thats some sadistic literature!

"the Lovely Bones" scared the living heck out of me -____-;;
i couldnt sleep
haha and after i read each harry potter, i have nightmares about dementors.

personally, I didn't fancy "Lord of the Flies" too much.

Lord of the Flies - the story of a gay tailor? pretty good book.

90% of the books I hated in high school, I now love.

I wonder if it's just that whole "required reading" thing that makes them suck?
