Brown's adult program (RUE)

You know, the woman who called to schedule my interview congratulated me. Perhaps she was just being nice - I certainly appreciated it.

At any rate, we won’t have to spend much more time speculating.

He said they like to get a better “hands on” feel of the RUE applicant pool for the year because it varies so much year to year… way more than the incoming freshman class.

He said the program had undergone some administrative changes over the last few years and they should probably clarify their literature.

Honestly, even if they may not get to interview all finalists, I am expecting a rejection since I wasn’t contacted. I live on the east coast in the same time zone, so scheduling an interview with me should have been easy if it’s something they wanted to do.

I wish I had been contacted, the program is exactly what I want, but at least I gave it a shot.

Odds are that nobody on this thread will be accepted - I’m just talking numbers, here. We can find solace in the fact that we are, as of right now, candidates for admission to one of the best schools in the world. Let’s enjoy that.

Please disregard my last post. I was just about to leave for a twelve hour shift at work and I was feeling a little defeated by it.

There’s a ton of wonderfully talented people on here and Brown would be lucky to have each and everyone one of you.

This board has taken a depressing turn… on to something positive…

If not Brown, than what? Obviously everyone here is very intelligent and talented, surely there must be some good news or next steps in the works…so…

just out of curiosity, would anyone care to share their “plan b”? (assuming going to Brown would be the number one option…maybe for some it’s not, I don’t know)

At this point, I’m waiting to hear from a few schools (including Brown). I’ve been accepted at Smith, Mount Holyoke and Wellesley. As it stands, I’ll go to Wellesley.

I received a grant to study at any Pennsylvania state school for free. I’m also waiting to hear from Cornell, JHU, and a couple of others. I’ve been accepted to Columbia’s GS program.

“Plan B” if this admissions cycle doesn’t go the way I want is to continue where I am now, going part time and working instead of being able to attend full time and finish in 2 years.

If I don’t get in I’ll probably reapply… but maybe as a transfer instead of RUE, we’ll see.

I have never heard of any transfers that were eligible to be RUE but admitted transfer. I was 6 months to young or something when I applied so I couldn’t apply as a RUE.

Well, I’d obviously consult with the RUE admissions staff to see whether or not I would be best served by reapplying as a transfer or RUE, or whether not to bother if they don’t think I’m competitive for one reason or another.

I guess I’m getting ahead of myself here, but I really am expecting rejection at this point. I hope at least some of the folks from this thread get admitted though.

Only a couple more days, people. Hang in there.

The last few days always seem the longest.

anybody hear anything?

I don’t expect to hear anything by way of snail mail until the weekend is over. If decisions are sent via e-mail, then maybe tomorrow after working hours.

My stomach dropped about a mile when I heard the mailman today…but nothing yet

I’m dying to know when they mailed letters out…

If I was a braver person, I would do the logical thing to satisfy my curiosity- call and ask! But sadly, I’m way too chicken to do any such thing.

Good luck to everyone, hold tight!

During the interview, the fellow I spoke to made it clear that we’d know on May 1.

If it’s by mail, I’d imagine the letters were sent today or yesterday. At any rate, I’ll be home at lunch waiting for the mailman. Good luck, all.

Hey All,

Due to the fact that I am leaving the country today, and would have been unable to receive my decision letter from Brown, I called the admissions office and found out that I have been accepted to this years RUE program! I wish you all the best of luck!

Congrats Stuck!

I had a feeling when you said the interviewer spent a significant portion of the time explaining what Brown had to offer that you would get in.

I had nothing in my mailbox today from Brown, so maybe tomorrow or Monday.

I was accepted!!

so interview=acceptance?

congrats toast!

How did you find out? Will you post a copy of your acceptance letter?
