BU housing?

With the new dorms going up, BU will be able to house something like 80% of the school. They currently house about 76%. That's of the resident student population, which is not the total enrollment because many people are elsewhere each term. The long-term goal is to house 85%.

BTW, the new StuVi has arguably the best river location of any apartment building in the city; it's right on the bend of the Charles so you have amazing views down the river toward downtown (over the sailboats, toward the dome of the State House - just beautiful) and out.

I just want my own bathroom. xD What's the best place for a freshman who wants a private bathroom? I don't mind sharing with one person or even two, but not the whole floor. -_- Can freshman get private rooms?

freshman rarely get a private bathroom...i dont even know if you can request it but some rooms in myles have private bathrooms

the bathrooms really arent that terrible in the freshman dorms...just buy shower shoes!

Lol, not going to happen as a freshman. Don't worry, you learn to tolerate the communal bathroom thing. Its funny in the mornings when you would see about 5 of us in a row, with our eyes half open brushing our teeth and shaving. Must have a been a funny sight. Trust me, live in Warren or West and get the freshman experience. Yes, it involves a little sacrifice in the sense of spacious surroundings and private bathrooms, but it is well worth it and will leave you with some of the best memories.

What about my stuff? Is there somewhere I can put my things in the bathroom or do I have to bring it with me every time to go? I don't want to have to carry my toothbrush with me every morning. -_-

I like Nickel's questions :)
I believe there are lockers in Warren bathrooms. Someone correct me if I am wrong.
I have (many) questions too:
-How easy is to get Roommate Requests?
-How many shower stalls are in each bathroom? How do they look like?
-When are the best hours to shower?
-Are all floors co-ed? I'd like to live in a co-ed floor.

-Very easy, I believe you can fill one out in your housing survey
-3. And I don't know how to answer the second part. They look like VERY basic showers.
-Anytime is an okay time as long as it's not right before 'going out' time on friday or saturday night
-Not all the floors are coed but most are. since girls outnumber guys there are only a few all girls floors. (I think 2?3? not a lot). The BIG exception is The Towers (not to be confused with warren towers). Towers is single sex by floor because there's only 1 bathroom on each floor. That's because it used to be all girls back in the day.

There are lockers? Well, that's good at least. xD I'd probably forget all my stuff every time.

Yeah, there are lockers, and we never really had locks on ours. It's not like someone is going to steal your hand towel. Cuz that would just be weird.

Oh, so no locks? That's good, I'd lose the key. xD

lostandfound - thanks for your response!

Here are some pictures my friend posted from her room in Warren freshman year. She lived in a double which is far more common than the quad I lived in.

Warren Towers 14 B

So each of us gets a desk? And we buy our own lock for our locker?

i have a question about the whole roommates thing. i remember when it was time for all of us to submit our housing surveys for UF and my CAP advisor warned us against requesting a roommate because she said that if you submitted your housing application early and the roommate you want submits it a lot later, then even though you submitted it early your application will get pulled back with your roommate's and then you wouldn't get the residence hall you wanted and all of that since your roommate submitted their's so late.
okay i have no idea if this is the case with BU but is it? because i think i met someone who i want to room with but i'm afraid that if we submit our survey at different times then this could happen.
also if you request a roommate should you put on the survey that that's the most important thing for you? because honestly the most important thing is that i get warren loll :D
thanks!

Yes each person gets a bed, desk, chair, closet, and dresser. In every room in every dorm. They just might look a little different or be set up differently.

You would buy your own lock, but I never had one. Didn't need it.

As for the roommate question, I've never heard of that happening but I also didn't request a roommate freshman year so I don't know. Try calling the housing office to check what their policy is. After freshman year the housing process is different, so I don't remember everything from 4 years ago.

Also, if you're really lucky (like I was haha) you'll get one of the bigger corner rooms in Warren

So you can leave your locker unlocked and no one will take your stuff?

yeeeah. It would be weird if people stole bathroom stuff

People steal stuff all the time in the locker rooms here, though. =/

I really doubt that people would steal stuff from a bathroom locker. None of us freshman year used a lock, and no one had a problem. I mean, all I had in there was a toothbrush, toothpaste, a razor, some shampoo, and a bottle of liquid soap. Don't see what there is to steal. Maybe if someone had one of those expensive electric shavers but thats about it. Don't worry. If you open your locker and your toothbrush is gone, you go get another one.
