Cal Poly SLO Transfer Thread for Fall 2020

Definitely! Do you have any links to any good groups?

@Quimby4 - errr no but a whole bunch of loans though which is awful because literally im low income and they are giving me only 45% -_-’’’’’ what is this - isnt this supposed to be a cal state

sorry reallly upset right now because I don’t know if i will be able to afford it

My boyfriend got waitlisted earlier today for Business Admin, he got an email and hasn’t checked the portal. He got into SJSU, East Bay, and Long Beach for reference. I’m still waiting on a decision from Cal Poly, I applied under Business Admin, 4.0 GPA (bf has lower GPA), non-local, and pre-reqs all completed. Trying to stay hopeful but I’m getting worried since so many people have heard back.

@sqnabuggy what were his stats if you dont mind me asking? and what does non-local mean? like socal?

sorry im new to this lol

For some reason it won’t let me share the link. But if you go on Facebook it’s a group called Cal Poly Housing, Sublets, and Roommates

Low income would qualify for Cal Grants A and or B. Have you logged in Webgrants for Students CA portal? They have to send your Cal Grants award. My CASC is still pending, I think waiting for confirmation of enrollment from CPSLO. I emailed Financial Aid at CPSLO to see if they know when Cal Grants will post. Cal Grants aren’t loans.

You list your Associate’s degree in your Cal State Application that you submitted in November. It asks what the degree is, which school you earned it from and the month & year you earned it or expect to earn it.

Your story are the ones I love to hear. Everybody loves a comeback.
Cal Poly’s engineering program has a great reputation & is very difficult to get into. Excellent job!

Low-income student here as well. I emailed financial aid regarding my Cal Grant still processing and this is what I was told:

“Please keep in mind that you currently have the State University Grant (SUG) on your financial aid award - this pays the state tuition fee, just like the Cal Grant award does. So, if you are awarded the Cal Grant, that portion of your award would change from State University Grant to Cal Grant Fees.”

Also, my parents do not qualify to take out a loan so the school would loan me an additional $5,000 after submitting proof. Of course, every situation is different so please reach out to the financial aid office since they know that stuff better.

I got in to Long Beach, SJSU, and still haven’t heard from SDSU. I was going to wait until UC decisions came out but I’m assuming I’d have to loan even more.

Cal Grant actually covers a larger % of UC tuition. Would be cheaper for me to go to UC based on tuition alone. But since Cal Poly is my #1, I’m going there regardless :slight_smile: I emailed Financial Aid, waiting to hear back.

Did you send your transcripts in when you accepted the offer?

“Once you’ve committed to Cal Poly, you can select Cal Poly as your school of attendance on Webgrants 4 Students. Then, we will load the Cal Grant in the summer (August) after you have been matriculated (enrolled).”

Hey everyone. I applied as a psych major but I have not heard back yet. Anyone else on the same boat?

@endearingdarling3
I am in the same boat as you. While I am a civil engineering major and not a psych major, I also have not heard anything back yet. I’m sure you are getting really anxious too! Hang in there and I wish you best of luck!

@Mat1hew
I am also a civil engineering major but I have not heard anything back from Cal Poly SLO yet. Cal Poly SLO is also probably my number one school. The only thing I know about being waitlisted is that Cal Poly says it could be as late as July 15th before transfer applicants find out if they are accepted or not. Hopefully it will be much sooner than July 15th, as July 15th is four months away. If you don’t mind me asking, when did you find out and what are your stats? Best of luck to you!

@endearingdarling3 I haven’t heard back yet too. I am a Construction Management major. Good luck! And make sure to check your spam/junk emails!

Yes, also psych, no response. Assuming it is a denial.

I recommend setting up an appt with financial aid. Just email them and they usually reply quickly. I first thought that I would need $10,000 in loans, and my counselor explained to me that tuition is really only $10,000 and it is cheaper to live off-campus. I went from stressed to finding out that I actually have a full ride, so contact them first because they can explain your package to you :slight_smile:

I’m having this problem too

I think there is like a day or two delay between the email and portal. I got accepted through my portal and didn’t receive the email until the next day.
