Cal Poly SLO Transfer Thread for Fall 2020

They are also doing a poll to get an idea of what students are wanting to do if COVID-19 impacts the format of instruction

I took that poll & wrote that my concern is securing a lease for off-campus housing but holding off from signing a lease in case Fall is online & I’m taking classes from my dining room table.

Yeah I’ve been holding off on signing a lease as well for that very reason. It would be a waste to sign a lease if classes are online

Same here, I went to cuesta and right now there are TONS of subleases. I’m planning on waiting until we hear about fall, then going into something then. Valencia Apartments usually has rooms available at that time of year, and it’s walking distance to campus.

So is it a good idea to hold off on leases until we get closer to that time? I have been looking into Valencia Apartments as well.

I looked on Google Maps and not impressed with Valencia Apts. Hahaaa
I can only imagine the inside.

Since you went to Cuesta, do you know the happening spots to live in SLO?
I was wondering what downtown would be like to live there. Thurs-Sun probably wild with nightlife. Hahaaa

But other than that, I don’t know SLO apartments around campus that are cool.

Does COVID-19 impact your decision to attend school in the fall if instruction is online?

I guess I’m just thinking of the financial aspect and how we’ll still be paying full tuition for half the resources we get to use

@adpxoxo it does for me 100%

Did anyone else submit an appeal letter and if so did you mail it in or email it? Their website stated before covid 19 to mail it in and now it says to email it. Getting a little concerned no one ever received it. Thanks for any replies!

Can incoming students take summer courses?

@adpxoxo: Yes, but check with SLO and get their OK.

When were we supposed to hear back from Cal Poly if we were accepted? Did they send an email out saying things would be delayed due to Covid?

Many of us heard back on our acceptances mid-March on our portals & emails.

BEST OF LUCK TO EVERYONE! im turning down Cal Poly SLO so I hope someone gets off the waitlist. <3

wishing everyone gl!!!

A lot of Waitlisted just moved into the Admitted spots today! Hahaaaa

It really depends on your preference. In years past, living in paso robles, los osos, atascadero, and arroyo grande were worth it. Rent was cheaper, and the commute wasn’t too bad. It’s measuring out to be about the same, and the commute is getting more congested every year. DT is popping friday-sunday, a lot of cuesta kids party thursday-sunday since friday classes are pretty uncommon. The major partying complex is mustang village. There are ALWAYS parties, so if that’s not your scene don’t live there. The SLO is not great to live in. Valencia is expensive, but I loved the location. I didn’t have any friends going into it, and my roommates were awesome people.

How did you come by this information? Are they transfers and if so what are their majors?

It was in reference to Cal Poly’s SIR deadline of May 1st. Many people made the decision to attend/not attend & the spots from those who decided not to attend have opened up to those on the waitlist.
