Aviva_dawn, What is happening with your friend that needed help?

avivia, have you applied to school yet? you can get into a better uc... like ucsc or uci....S,D, is a reach, but merced might be a perfect match. depending on your major l.a seems like a stretch.

She's okay. We had our chat, and she seemed to listen to what I had to say. It remains to be seen as to what she'll choose to do with her life at this time though.

CCisprison:
I apply in November for Fall '06 admission, so I haven't sent any apps off yet.
I was looking at Psychology as a major if I transferred to UC Merced.
UCI and UCSC have a Calculus requirement that I wouldn't be able to meet in time to transfer in '06 and I really don't want to spend any additional time at a CC after next spring. ( I'll have 60 units by then, so I'd have to spend another year at my CCC taking only single math class each semester! )
I would feasibly be able to finish College Algebra by the time that I transfer, but definitely not Calculus. ( I was planning to take Stats, because the colleges on my list require it for Sociology and Psychology which are the majors that I'm completing lower-division prep for .)

I think that I may add UC Merced to my list, but I'm not too sure about anywhere else.

aviva_dawn: why don't you try UCSB? that's a good school. You are definitely in UCR and Fullerton

CC Prison, need ur help.

I missed my class again eventhough i came 45 mins b4 class started. Where do u park on the streets? After my class was 65% over, i just left parking lot and drove south. I ended up parking 5 blocks south of Ocean Park. On a street called Pier and 18th street. The neighborhood is sketchy but the street was empty. I walked about 10 mins to campus, but i don't mind the walking one bit.

Is there anywhere closer to park? I parked 5 blocks south of Ocean Park. I drive a decent used car, but i am very depended on it, is it dangerous to park it on the streer.

I know it's offtopic, but i need your advice. Thanks

well... i park about 5 blocks south of ocean park too. here's the trick... head south on 17th turn right on ashland ave.... this used to be a really good place to park, but a lot of people found out about this street... so head down ashland and take the first left you can... not sure the name of the street, but its a really small street, you can only park on one side of the street, but the block is never full.allow yourself about 15 minutes to walk to campus. Street cleaning is on thursday, so when you cant find parking on ashland and it's a thursday then park on the other side of 17th.i think thats pier It's a really nice area.another option is about 5 blocks east of campus... head east on pearl and look for the first block without permit parking... this another good area, but it started getting full so i moved to ashland. You can also try parking north of pico, but that area is a bit sketchy.you see a lot of people parking on 17th and ashland with smc parking passes, i guess parking is horrible this term. never park on 18th... it's just a longer walk. If you're really early for class and have time to look around you can try ocean park and 16th... no permit required, but there are only 3 spots. If worse comes to worse you can always park at the airport campus for free and take the shuttle.

you gotta love smc

thanks CCprison. Yeah after walking back from Campus looks like Ashland is the street north of Pier. Pier was pretty empty, hopefully it's always like that. I do not mind walking at all. If everything will be the same tomorrow, instead of spending 45 mins in the parking lot where people there do not know how drive properly and are put other drivers in danger of accidents, i'd rather walk 10-15 mins. I still have a little concern about leaving the car (i lived 18 yrs of my life w/ out and had to suffer taking the bus for an hour after school), so the car means a lot to me and was very fortunate to get it. But i think it should be fine, there are worse neighborhoods in cali than South of Ocean Park, much worse.

Anyways, thanks again.

PS. I heard finding parking in the airport building is just as tough, never tried it though.

SMC really needs to build another parking structure, it's getting extremely inconvinient missing classes and spending hours in the parking structure.

hahah that sucks...in my CC in irvine I just park in the parking lot..hahaha

UCR - Art History/Religious Studies Department

UCI - Humanities Department

UCSD - uhh, I think this is a given.

3.5... changed my major from Sociology to Art History. yikes. crossing fingers, saying my prayers.

fei - LOL. I love the IVC parking lots (w/the exception of always competing for an actual space)... it's close to everything. except for the ones near the strawberry fields/tennis courts... then again, those are pretty close too compared to other CCs.

Good. Some of the posters mentioned learning disabilities, is she going to be tested for that?
