Smile614, what are you expecting to get? If above a 31, then the best way to improve is practice tests. If below that, sign up for a class. Practice tests help you so much and let you speed up, so you have more itme to check and be sure about the hard ones.

here is my assesment, make sure to do mine, because I figure you must be pretty big on college stuff
http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/592751-chancing-near-impossibility.html
anyways, you are good for MIT,
I dont like to say gurantee but you have a better chance getting into MIT, than not getting hit by lightning.
I cant say much for Harvard

See...this is my problem with Harvard:
2 years ago, 1 super genius from my school gets in.
1 year ago, 3 avg. joes get in.

*** lol
So...if last year's trend follows, you are 100% guaranteed to get into Harvard haha...but otherwise you still have a very respectable 70-80 percent chance imo...excellent stats and great ecs... BUT don't let it get to your head and slack off on apps - show them you really actually want to attend Harvard.

MIT...I'm not sure how much weight they would put on non techy stuff...idk you personally, but Im getting the vibe that you would be happier in Yale/Princeton/liberal arts school setting than MIT/Caltech/other techy school.

If it helps I self study calculus and advanced physics theories ie string theory and M-theory.

Anybody else?

Yeah basically what everyone else has said.
Very good chance, especially since you are Hispanic. Unfortunately Asians like me dont get that advantage.

Please chance me?

Thanks. I'll chance you guys back!

Bump!!!!!!

Probably get in with a Perfect Act Score........ Make sure your essays stand out and your in.... Even though you have a 85 Percent chance of getting in, make sure you have backups......

Chance Me.....

wow impressive stats!
I'd say you have a really good chance at both because of the following:
high test scores, challenging courseload, high gpa, hispanic, lots of quality ECs.

make sure your essays are of at least the same caliber as your stats (and interesting!), to avoid hurting yourself. but i'd say you're perfectly on the road to acceptance at at least one of the two.

did you apply EA to MIT? if so, i definitely think ur in.

Hispanic, with those stats? Dude you have a good chance.

Anymore opinions? I'll chance you back!

Bumpssssss

More opinions?

Both are low reaches for u.But again these schools are reaches for every one.
Believe me if ur applying for any college other than these two and the ives u will get into
but these are reach schools for everyone
chance me
http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/595039-can-i-get-into-any-these-colleges-please-help.html

Bumpity bump. THanks so far for everything. Is there anybody else?

i think you will probably get in to harvard, im saying like a 60% shot. everyone else here is dramatically underestimating harvard and sees a 36 act and urm status. harvard is nearly impossible for anyone who is not an athlete to get into. that being said, 60% is a ridiculously good shot at that school

i think you have a much lower chance at MIT, specifically because you have no math/science activities. so what if you have the gpa, act, and urm status, you have not pursued anything in the way of math and science. even if your school doesnt offer them you should be driven to pursue them yourself, found a science club or tutor in science or something. you havent done any research, and youre taking ab calc, and youve only taken one sat II science, which you didnt ace. to be "in" at MIT you need the science and math stuff. i give you a 15% chance there

in both u have good chances!
good luck!!

Thanks gimmestanford for the realistic chances. I might have aced the sat II (I dont know yet). Look most of this is not my fault. We werent allowed to start a math or science club, calc ab is the highest math offered, online courses are not put on my transcript or counted, my physics class only covered motion, and who would I conduct research with? To defend myself further, I study advanced physics and calculus theories on my own in my spare time. In conclusion, I made the most of what I had in the math and science department and went farther on my own. I'm more of a theory guy then the practical guy. Does that help clarify my interest in MIT?

More opinions please? Will chance back!
