yeah pretty much, my freshmen year, C- french, and C in History, I had an A in Biology, and an A- in Algebra 2 , and English was a B i think, and I also had many elective classes, but the point im trying to make is that everyone cheats , so I would only be cheating myself if once in a while I didn't make a crib sheet...

_> I made it to States in FBLA, got an honorarny mention at LD Debate, and I am doing a research project on Electrospinning Nanofibers from a degradable matrix& and this year I am also in FBLA, overall I would say that I cheat on tests about once or twice a month, I am not huge on it....

and it would be for classes which 90%+ of the class would cheat one way or another...this year I surprisingly haven't cheated almost 2 times since school started....>_> i think you guys have the impression that I am some kind of cheating machine, and im not....I am just saying that once in a while its ok to bend the rules in your favor.....

By the way Helix & Maverach: you guys are putting up an amazing Debate, lolz its actually fun...(lmao nerd moment)

Alright guys, I gotta quit this im tired of writing amazingly long entires...lolz good debate, if anyone want to continue my argument they can go ahead..>_>

Let's see how you feel when your stockbroker cheats you. Hey, he has to feed his family, and he doesn't get paid unless he sells you crappy stock that the firm is trying to unload. Why should he care that you are impoverished because of this? That's YOUR problem! You should have known better than to buy a stock without doing your proper research.

Let's see how you feel when a used car dealer cheats you. What's the big deal about selling a sucker a cream puff with a showroom shine but an engine falling apart but filled with sawdust to keep it running for the next 10 days?

Pre-medwannabe .. you r a genius and hey im not like a cheating machine in anything. I go to a school where everyone cheats so y would i give them an advantage when i can have that same advantage. I've done very well on tests that i couldnt cheat such as act, sat, purdue calculus placement exam, apush exam. So its not like i dont have the ability, its just more of a time thing for me. Im not the type of kid who wants to spend more time working than having fun. So i do enough to get where i want to be and still have as much fun as possible. Its not like i do it all the time just on homework and a test maybe twice a year. I like premed have the sciences down but i sometimes need a little push in the classes im not interested in (english and social studies mainly). Im also the kid giving out the answers a lot of the times so its not like im not giving anyone else a chance.

terrybhs, your logic makes sense. I suppose if you didn't cheat, then you would be the one at a disadvantage. It's unfortunate that you go to school in such an environment, where everyone mooches off everyone else for the sake of getting by. It seems to me the real essence of education has been lost at your school.

umm... who cares about the essence of education. I just want to go to college(although i do think i will enjoy chem. engineering), get a good job, and live a great life.

I'm not going to come back and argue, just make this one post.

I go to a high school where the competition for the top 6 or so positions is cutthroat. I managed to make my way to number 1 withOUT cheating. We're talking that the difference between 3 and 4 is about .02, and I know the number 4 girl cheats like mad crazy. She gets the questions or answers or sometimes both to math tests beforehands, puts out extra sheets with her notes on them during history tests, etc. If she pulls ahead of the number 3 girl, is that right? (Who I know actually never cheats.) It's sad, but she'll probably pass her by midyear, and maybe she'll ruin her chances at some college- some college that she actually deserved to go to. And this cheating girl will get in when she didn't deserve it. She didn't bust her ass, she just cheated - selfishly. I feel bad for you if you think that life is just a competiton because that's no way to look for satisfaction in life.

P.S. Integrity is probably the most important attribute a person can have.

well put, sljaeger. I suppose cheaters will realize their mistake when someone else comes along and uses their hard work to get ahead. Only when they are left in the dust, and someone else takes all of the effort they have made and uses it for their own advantage will they know what problems they have caused.

yea she deserves to be #3 if she can cheat that hardcore and get away with it. the other girl didnt take the competitive adavantage so shes screwed thats all to it

I suppose it's one thing if everybody in school cheats (though it's still just as wrong, and I would never cheat even if every other person in the school did it), but if it's isolated like that case... that's just wrong.

The #3 girl might fall a bit behind for being a better person. I don't really see the point in cheating. Isn't school supposed to be about what you learn and how you put your own abilities to use? What's the use in competing with others so much? So what, you'll fall behind a couple places in class rank. If the school is that competitive, it won't make as much of a difference come college admissions anyway. I'd rather know that I actually tried to learn and actually did my own work than be #1 due to cheating. You won't be able to cheat through life.

"Isn't school supposed to be about what you learn and how you put your own abilities to use?"

Are you insane .. NOOO!!! school is about getting into college. Do you actually look forward to going to school everyday, i doubt it. And why do you force yourself to go?? Im pretty sure its nit b/c you enjoy the learning experience. Yea it doesnt make a difference in college admissions (especially since my first choice is a safety), but it does make a difference when it comes scholarships and programs that require a certain class rank and not to mention keeping my family off my back. Going to school b/c your eager to learn?? Lets be serious.

terrybhs, i'm not kidding here, but despite all the hw, late nights, horrible tests, and whatever i personally LOVE learning. maybe it's just me, but i think it's fascinating when you get a really fantastic teacher who loves the subject and just makes everything seem so interesting and worth the study. i'm not going to be an idealist and say that there isn't a part of school that's about getting into college. but seriously, if it were all about college, i would've burned out years ago.
i understand occasionally copying someone's hw minutes before class because you forgot your book the night before or whatever. but pulling notes out during tests or getting the answers beforehand? idk..that would kill my conscience...not to mention put me at big risk for suspension! you do get caught eventually--whether it's in high school or much later in life.

im also from an upper-middle class area public school where people have lots of money. unlike terrybhs06's school, however, the only enormously lavish and expensive parties kids at my school ever give are for their bar/bat mitzvahs.

of course some kids cheat at my school, but that's typical. but generally lots of them work their pants off and study a lot. my school's REALLY competitive. straight A students are not uncommon. i've never heard of anyone getting an F before.

If u don't enjoy learning y do u want to learn more in college? for a good job? LOL. what a "having" attitude of a materialistic fool. U know u can never succeed beyond a certain point with that attitude. Those who do extremely well don't cheat, instead they r absorbed in their field and CREATE not plagiarize. Need I remind u of Janet Cooke who got her pulitzer prize revoked because she faked a whole story? that will who u will be if u cheat. U may rise but not up to a certain point and eventually u will fall. I think U CHEATERS DESERVE TO FAIL. U DESERVE TO FAIL!

my school's REALLY competitive. straight A students are not >uncommon. i've never heard of anyone getting an F before.
Sounds more like your school is a haven for grade inflation. My school has an average SAT score of 950 (old scale) but 40 percent of students have A averages. Does this make my school "competitive"?
