i got one! yay!

i didn't believe my mom when she called me from the mailbox lol.

I got a letter...it was the dumb financial aid thing!

cograts! when did you guys turn in your apps? I assume pretty early? Did you all have interviewss

^^ Hah Bashi I got the financial aid thing too, soo disapointing (I didn't even apply for financial aid). It looks like I spoke too soon about the troll thing...congratulations to everyone who got one!

My dad got a letter about the whole alumni thing, if that counts for anything. It went on to talk about admittance rates for alumni children, etc. etc., and that they take them into special consideration or something like that. No LL though. Any ideas what the letter means?

"Congrats! Do you think they would mail likely letters to international applicants or e-mail them?"

My son is a class 2010 from Canada. He got one 2 years ago. Hope that help. Good luck!

If you got an interview in the past week do you still have a chance of getting a likely letter?

thank you kvn54321!

my son interviewed on Feb. 12, received LL on Feb.15.

Anyone received LL without having an interview?

i realllllly don't think an interview has any impact on the likely letter

"my son interviewed on Feb. 12, received LL on Feb.15."

wow. not to jump to conclusions or anything, but that makes me respect the power/necessity of the interview about 20x more, especially since mine is tomorrow..........

^ good luck on your interview, but I doubt Dartmouth received the write-up in time to consider it before sending out the letters. I think someone posted that, by the time Dartmouth gets the report for a certain applicant, they've already (practically) made the decision.

Anyway, congrats to those who got likely letters! I'm incredibly jealous.

me too!

10 char

Does Dartmouth send LL all at the same time or in batches ?

See Sybbie post on page 1 ----3 waves of letters. She also posted the text of the form letter they send to liklies.

First, likelies should feel really pumped that they were/are considered "no brainers" by admissions. Those who don't get a likely letter in any of the 3 waves still have a 10% shot at acceptance. Granted, it isn't the 15% we all started with, but still, 1 in 10 of us will ultimately be accepted, even without a likely. Only 1/4 of all RD acceptees ever get one of these...if they send about 500, that's only like 24% of the 14% of RD they are going to accept, based on last year's numbers...(last year they accepted 24% of ED and 14% RD for an overall 15%). If they take approx. 15% overall for this year's total pool of 15700 or so, that's 2355 acceptances...about 300 got in ED and about 500 get in on liklies... that leaves about 1555 spots or the 10% I'm referring to...) I know, apps are up 10% so these numbers will be a little less, but the general order of magnitude holds true. Bottom line is don't despair if you don't get one and go feel really good if you did. You stood out in an Ivy applicant pool, had app-stress removed in FEBRUARY and you may have just gotten into your first choice. Worst case, YOU ARE GOING TO DARTMOUTH!!!!!!!!!!!

"Anyone received LL without having an interview?"

My son did. His likely letter came yesterday (Friday) and his interview is scheduled for this Monday.

"----3 waves of letters"

Why 3 waves?
