eeek!!!!!!!!!!!

ahhhhh i want to go home and check my mailbox!!!!!

ahhhhh.... didn't get a letter and trying not to panic. Does anyone know when the next wave may be mailed? Will we have to wait till the end of the month for round 2?
Is it surprising that no athlete received LLs in the first round?
Is there any order or structure to LLs

I'm guessing there might be another batch mailed out around the second week of march since all RD kids will find out the decisions during the last days of march/first days of april.

so did any international get letters?

Bump -
"I haven't even got my Dartmouth userid/pass yet :S."

Don't panic. Most students who are accepted RD do not get LL.

so have any international applicants gotten letters yet?

Has anyone on the west coast gotten a letter yet?

I've been just short of stalking the mailman.

I got one, dated 2/14.
Incredibly excited!
Not athlete, URM, or legacy.
...and my interview is scheduled for this coming Saturday evil grin.

Undercover- my stats are in my stats profile.

Relax... until Feb. 29
According to Sybbie and past years' threads, they send 3 waves which are rec'd mid-Feb, late Feb and mid March---every 2 weeks.
About 500 total ...so that's only a quarter of all the acceptances they will eventually send, if you figure about a 15% accept rate overall...MOST ACCEPTEES WILL NEVER GET ONE!!!

Also, to the poster who was told she'd get one "in a few days": can't believe your interviewer told you that...with some of us not even getting an interview, how did you get yourself a personal advocate????? Did you ask him/her to call?

Yes... just to remind all of you: You could still be well qualified for DARTMOUTH and not get one. This is because they are only sending these letters to people they are pretty sure are getting into at least one of the HYP schools. Basically, if only 1/4 of accepted students get a likely, it is waaayyyy less of the students who are actually at dartmouth right now who received one. Think about it this way: If you get a likely from Dartmouth, you are probably not going to be going to Dartmouth.

p.s.
I understand many people per year, choose dartmouth over HYP (as they should), but it is still the majority that will choose HYP. Especially this year since many who qualify for no financial aid at D, will pay half price at Harvard and Yale. (i.e. the 100k-200k income range).

so okay, just to be perfectly clear, does receiving one of these badboys mean that you're DEFINITELY in?

b/c if so i'm pretty stoked.

OMGOMGOMG sorry i normally don't post on cc, but i just got a likely letter and im flipping out right now. i don't remember the last time i've been this happy

i've been worried for awhile now too since my friends all got interviews from dartmouth, and i was never contacted for one, but i was just contacted last night and i have my interview today and i can't even type in regular sentences anymore cause im so freakin happy

Eaglet: Nope. I had my interview (went fairly well, I think), sent a thank you card to my interviewer, and didn't really expect to hear from her again. I did find out that my interviewer works at the same company as my mom (they didn't know each other prior to the interview). She ran up to my mom yesterday and very excitedly told her the news.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed until I get the actual letter, though. Don't worry too much about not getting an interview. If one's not offered to you because there's a lack of alumni in your area, I don't think it would be counted against you.

Congrats, Kenny (I think? Haha...)!

Hmmmm ok so i guess i can relax a bit since they're still sending out LLs but omg I WANT ONE!!!!

ya online it says they notify the interviewers if someone in their area got a likely letter so that they can congratulate them and invite them to stuff etc.

i was just on vacation for a couple of days. congrats to those likely letter recipients! i was dererred so i think i have a better chance of getting an A in french than in recieving one of those letters. i wonder if a deferred candidate has ever in the history of time recieved one. if not......i would like to be the first.........

Hey guys, FYI, even if you only got your mail confirmation of your application recently, you can still get a likely letter.

I got the confirmation of receipt of my application on Saturday, and then the LL was in the mail today :)

I don't normally post here either, but I figured that this would be the best place to find out about the letter. I received mine in the mail today, and I am nothing short of thrilled! I'd love to attend Dartmouth. If there purpose in sending the letters is to attract students, they've done a swell job.
