Hey guys, I thought since decisions come out for regular decision in exactly 3 weeks from today that it would be a good idea to make a thread for those who were either deferred early action or who are like me and couldn't get that app out in time for the EA deadline.

Feel free to ask questions or post your thoughts about the regular decision round here. :)

GT is my top choice and they won’t probably admit me unless IB + international student from Eastern Europe card can save me.

Did anybody send January 26th SAT IIs to GT? How did you do? I scored 790 on math II, 770 on physics and 620 on chemistry.

Btw Yankees suck :)

Hah. What made you decide to root for the Rays?

Is nobody else applying for regular decision?

I didn’t apply RD ,but my DS was accepted in EA but we were at Connect tech this week. They told us they got around 17,000 total apps between EA and RD. Of that 9,000were EA and they accepted around 5,000 of them. They are figuring on accepting at least 3,000 more in RD. They weren’t sure of exact number but it’s 3 thousand something.

@yankeesfanatic East timezone, interest in Florida and cool team :)

@MichiganGeorgia It is interesting, I thought only a small portion of acceptances was given through EA.

Oh, by “international student from Eastern Europe” I thought you meant you lived in Eastern Europe.

@MichiganGeorgia I really feel like I killed my chances by not applying EA, but that Oct. 15th deadline came way too fast. I didn’t know exactly what schools I was even applying to that early.

@yankeesfantatic - If your stats are good you will get in. I just listed the information so people would have an idea of the numbers.

I got a low GPA, 3.2 UW, and a 2310 SAT (800 M, 780 CR, 730 W). Decent essay, great/unique ECs. So nervous!!

I got accepted EA

Best of luck to all of you

@yankeesfanatic I live and EST simply is the closest to me and allows me to start watching some Wednesday and Sunday games at 7 p.m. my time (1 p.m. EST) during the summer which is better than 10 p.m. for Cal teams haha ;)

Well in my country nobody stresses about ECs, they even persuade weaker students to drop all interesting ECs and commit fully to academics which is pretty sick. So I am pretty sure that poor ECs, including no research or internships will cost me a spot at GT.

Thank the Lord that I got in EA. I am not envious of you guys who have to wait.

Visited the campus today. Pretty legit, but I liked Emory a bit more. I’m most likely going to go to GT due to financial reasons. Emory is amazing, but way too expensive. I’m pretty anxious to know if I’ll get into GT.

I logged into BuzzPort for the first time in 3 weeks today and nearly had a heart attack when I saw an announcement titled “Freshman Admission Decisions”. It was just a reminder that decisions will be emailed on Saturday, March 9th between 12 PM and 5 PM.

On a side note, is anyone else’s BuzzPort acting weird? It’s telling me access denied when I try to look at my application status when I was able to last time I logged in.

are there any links ga tech has sent to admitted students? maybe we can get a sneak peak and try to sign in and see if our apps were already processed. It worked for clemson.

@georgiabound - GT doesn’t do it the way clemson did. My DS did not get alink email like he did for clemson. However in EA kids were able to login to buzzport the night before and those that had extra tabs were admitted. i don’t know if it will work the same way this time or not.

@People who applied for EA, did it allow you to pay a deposit for Fall 2013 before you were accepted? I’m talking about the link on the homepage of buzzport. When I click on it, it lets me pay a deposit for “Fall 2013 Housing Prepay” and “Fall Freshman Admissions Deposit”.

Does this show up for everyone and for EA people did this show up before you were accepted?

Yankeesfanatic - where exactly are you looking? What do you click on from the Home Page? I can get to both of those through the Bursar Payment link that allows me to pay but I think I could do that EA as well.

Yeah that’s what I’m talking about. Under “Registration and Student Services” on the home page you click on “Pay Now - Bursar”.

So that’s available to everyone then?

Pretty sure i could do that on December 14th and then son was deferred. I was not able to see the extra tabs that the EA students could see on 12/14. I will need to go back and see if I made note of it in my posts.

Oh ok. Interesting that they allow you to pay a deposit even when you haven’t been accepted.
