@2010er were you sent an email about acceptance? Or did your son just happen to check Gibson?

no email- you have to check Gibson

Last year D2 was accepted 10/29 and heard about merit via letter received 11/5.

It has been too long for me to remember exactly, but I think my D heard back about 2 weeks after finalizing her application. I want to say the letter came around Oct. 25. We didn’t check Gibson at all, as I recall. Just opened the letter and voila. For us, the more excruciating wait was for the DHS letter towards the end of February.

I double checked the date my S submitted his app when I was looking for something else, and it was Sept. 23rd- earlier than I previously stated.

NewJersey17-Your D should look back on the application look to see what box was checked. EA, SCEA, or RD. It sounds like RD may have been mistakenly marked. Yes, both EA and SCEA apps will get a response by Dec. 15. (Often before) She may need to contact Tulane to make the correction.

I think NewJersey17 told me elsewhere that they did double check her app and that EA was checked.

She just told me that too. Her daughter has contacted Tulane to correct the error. In this situation, I would recommend that the student (not the parent) email or call to correct the error. In my opinion, it does not reflect poorly on the student, rather it shows they are on top of things and are truly interested in the school. Of course, be respectful and not obnoxious!

Almost exactly what I told her as well! You are absolutely right, a polite, business-like email inquiring about the situation is a good thing, not nagging or negative. It only becomes bad when people are one or all of the following: A) impolite and/or disrespectful; B) give off a sense of entitlement; C) ask questions that are clearly illogical or silly such as “I completed my application 2 weeks ago, why haven’t I heard back yet?” or anything similar; D) impatient because they don’t get a reply to an email in 15 minutes, or even 15 hours.

Agreed! NJ17’s daughter has taken the appropriate steps to correct what seems to be Tulane’s error. (We all make mistakes!) For anyone in a similar situation whether it is at Tulane or another school-the advice is for you!

P.S. I am trying to get my 15 posts so I can PM, because I know much of this is better handled privately.

Well then, tell us where you are from. That will do it.

Texas! This is my third and last child going to college. We have good college counselors at our school, but I have also learned a lot. I am by no means an expert on Tulane. My two most recent applicants applied EA and got in, mostly, I think, because they were qualified. The whole process is both stressful and exciting, and can also be very confusing.

At the info session we were told it was important to visit (to show interest) and to apply early.

Thanks FC

DD got her Congratulations on Gibson this morning, so apparently the admissions office is working on this Monday holiday!! Tulane is her first choice, so she is overjoyed and aborting other applications left and right. For those tracking timing (tho everyone’s mileage may vary), she got her app in September 14, and Gibson showed her filed complete September 27. She applied SCEA. 3.7/4.1 33 ACT 5 AP classes, 5 score on the 2 tests taken so far.

Crossing my fingers for everyone still waiting - hang on tight!!

Congrats to Donnahead! And good luck on the merit letter to come. FYI there are classes on Columbus Day at Tulane. Looking forward to reading many more good news posts.

Hi all! I am currently a senior in high school. I applied Single Choice Early Action. My application was marked as complete on Friday, October 11 at around 3 pm California time. I got my “congrats” message on my Gibson page today at around 3 pm also. So it was SUPER fast. I had read older threads on this site and found that this is not unheard of but it was still unbelievable.

Here are my stats:
GPA Weighted: 3.7
GPA Unweighted: 3.5
ACT: 32
SAT: 1810 (however I did not submit my SAT score with my app)
I took the AP Biology exam last year and got a 3 on the test. This year I am taking AP Spanish, Government, and Statistics. I submitted a copy of my in progress senior grades to my admission counselor. I’ve been involved with various clubs and outside extracurriculars. I submitted to counselor report forms and one teacher recommendation.

Hope this helps with gauging your chances for admission. Good luck to everyone!!

I think the SCEA kids are hearing back first!

I’m a nervous wreck. My Son applied SCEA last Sunday…Gibson says they are still waiting for school report which his guidance counselor sent already…and we overnighted his teacher recommendations and his CV but have no way of knowing if they got it!

@dolphnlvr6 dont worry! I had the same problem with my transcript and i called the tulane office. They told me that it often takes 2-3 weeks for anything to show up on Gibson. You can always call the admissions office, they are so nice!

Accepted wooooo

Congrats user2018. You were obviously very anxious about this, so it is great that you can now relax. Do you have a Tulane shirt to wear to school tomorrow?

@dolphnlvr6 Same thing happened with me! My counselor told me when they were sent and that Sunday I got a confirmation email from a service called SendEDU that told me it was sent. Then I had to wait for what seemed like forever for my app to be marked complete on my Gibson. I’m not sure the exact time frame but it was at least a week from when I got that email. And just to keep in contact with my admissions counselor I asked him to see if my recommendations had made there way there successfully. I wouldn’t worry but just ask your admissions counselor or the office. They never mind and it helps display an interest in the school which is looked upon fondly.
