Class of 2022 RD Discussion Thread

pumped Mid-West has largest chunk 26%

Does MyUPS only start displaying a day or 2 after you set it up?

@IlluminatiIsReal Same. Good luck to us all  I did a few calculations and based on the profile, only about 330 international students have veen admitted. I hope we’re all in those 330!

Should the decisions come out at 4.30 CST today?

@Ashtash it shouldn’t be, however UPS will only displayed once its scanned at main hub in St Louis area. Not when WUSTL or any shipping company is generating label. So likely labels are being generated as we speak but UPS notification would be most likely later today evening CST time, I would count after 5 PM CST.

^ how do people know

The stats are impressive. The test scores are higher than previous years.

just to avoid potential site crash logged into portal.

1500 at the 25th percentile is higher that Harvard last year.

Y’all are too smart. I am going to start a denial page probably within the next hour where others and I can reflect on what we have learned from this denial. You are welcome to join me.

WashU is known to appreciate high test scores even more than the Ivies.

@JohnGaltill–yes the range is higher than virtually any other school I’ve seen. It appears that test scores weighed heavily this year.

This sucks. It seems like admissions over all this year was much more competitive than last year. I feel like a lot of people that got rejected would’ve been accepted last year.

@amaliep But they appreciate exceptional talents and unusual applicants even more. Believe me, high or even perfect test scores don’t mean anything if you don’t have good extracurricular involvement or significant awards.

I would be curious to see numbers on number of applications in 2017 vs 2018 across a range of schools. All those Y2K babies are applying now.

Those people who can identify themselves in the list of qualities of admitted students they posted are lucky - they already received a decision.

@IlluminatiIsReal But all of them had a tremendous hook on their application tha I’m sure they were well aware would grant them a leg up on their application. They probably expected the acceptance anyway. Or got scholarships or likely letters or were ED

Wait guys, on the Class of 2022 statistics page, it mentions some awards and stuff, have they notified people who received those awards of likely letters and stuff? Because I feel like one of them applies to me, but my GPA is a little too low for WashU…

Just want to remind you that of the 4,695 that were accepted (which is 15% of the 31,300 that applied), 40% of the 4,695 were accepted during ED. So 1,878 were accepted ED, and 2,817 will get their acceptances today. This is one tough school to be accepted to. My D has a 1500, and I never thought of that score being at the bottom end of the 50%. I have been thinking she won’t get in for some time based on who else was deferred at her high school and who else jumped in for the RD round, but now, I am pretty certain that she won’t be accepted. Those figures are a strong dose of reality.

I agree that you need to have the whole package of grades, extracurriculars, and demonstrated interest. I’ve just heard from my GC that WashU weighs scores more than other schools and the profile suggests that’s true. It looks like applicants without a strong hook will need close to a 1550/35 to have a reasonable change of acceptance.
