My son also has a different perspective than some, as he is thinking law school. Better to not ‘overspend’ on undergrad when that money is needed later. If he was going to stop at undergrad my bar for what I would spend on undergrad would be a bit higher (but still not $280K). Again, that’s a personal choice as you said, not a comment toward others and their choice. Still curious to see if he is accepted and what the cost is, as WashU is an excellent school. We wouldn’t have applied if it wasn’t.
hey guys
My son didn’t get the scholarship either. Though he did receive an email stating that. The email went to the Promotion folder on gmail. The waiting game continues.
@Dean Moriaty…are you by any the mod of r/PhillyUnion?
@Lemonade22 hello!
Did anyone get an email from an admissions officer? I got one talking about how much they liked my application and my story (with specific details mentioned in my essay) and how they’re excited to tell me more about the opportunities at WashU. Is this a generic letter or a likely letter possibly entailing admission???
I’d say more in lines of a likely! My D didn’t get an email.

The scholarship email states
On behalf of the faculty selection committees for the Academic Scholarship & Fellowship Programs at WashU, thank you for applying. Our committees were moved by the stories shared and impressed by the achievements earned by each applicant. This year in particular we saw an increase in the overall number of applications for our Academic Scholarship & Fellowship Programs, making our selection process even more difficult. At this time, all finalists have been notified of their status.
We know you put a lot of work into preparing your application, and we appreciate your efforts. While you have not been selected as a finalist, you’ve provided us the opportunity to get to know you and better understand why you feel WashU is the school for you.
It's important for you to know that this decision in no way impacts the decision on your admissions application. Final admission decisions will be posted by April 1, 2018, and admitted students who have applied for need-based financial assistance will receive notification from Student Financial Services after the offer of admission is sent. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact us.

Was anyone accepted to the University Scholar in Medicine Program?
@crazypeople I just got one this afternoon! I have no idea what it means though
Hey does anyone know exactly when regular decisions are coming out? It says “by April 1st,” but rumor has it they usually come out as early as March 15th.

@mimimeme I think they typically release them around the 11th. I think before the 15th would be a safe bet based on previous years; however, they probably got a lot more applications this year, so you never know.

@hansammy8 I believe it’s a likely letter!!
3/15 sounds about right for RD notifications last year.
It might be around the same time or later this year. Spring break for WashU starts 3/12 this year so we’ll see when people get the news.
D applied RD. Got an email from washu yesterday saying they liked his essay/application. In addition the email says mentions the specific part of the essay that they liked.Did everyone get such an email or is this a good indicator that admission will be offered?
Definitely a good indicator of acceptance. Congratulations!
If I may ask, when did your son/daughter receive the admissions decision?
