Climate in UCD

I plan on going to UCD next fall, and what I am really worried about is what the weather will be like. Is it cold? Wet? I need to know what type of clothes I need to bring with me. Help.

Blazing hot in the summer

In the summer it can get pretty warm. A bit over 100 on the worst days. Winter it can be as low as 30.

Does it ever snow up there?

It did once like 10 years ago. So no, not really haha

But you are just a few hours drive from the ski resorts in the mountains to the east. While you won't see snow down at Davis, you can get to it pretty easily.

About 1.5 hrs to the best resorts.

The high's in the winter are usually in the 40's, so we get much more rain than snow. I've actually seen it snow in davis, but it was too warm for it to accumulate. Many people choose to invest in rain boots & a bike fender.

Summers can be blazing hot, like upper 90's - low 100's. We had a heat wave last summer or two summers ago where it was above 100 for 17 days straight. (Got up to 113 one day, ouch!)

This time of year it's pretty much perfect outside. Not too hot, not too cold.

^^^ Sounds like my kind of weather! Cold when it's cold, and hot when it's hot. (lol that didn't make any sense.)

I don't sit well in blazing heat :\ hope air conditioning is dynamite! xD

Oh yeah...weather is important. o: I don't like the cold. Lol air conditioning and heating. ;)

I think highs in the winter days are more like 50's; hardly "cold" by anything other than California standards! Definately hot in the summer though...a dry heat...

DAVIS 1 WSW, CALIFORNIA - Climate Summary

Most days in the winter (not when it's raining) a warm hoodie is all you need.

I love the cold

couldn't agree more, GlueEater :D

I don't think I can stand the heat...dies

do any of the dorms have air cond?

All of the dorms have airconditioning. If you live in the suites in Cuarto you have control over both your airconditioner and heater.

that is greatest news i've heard ever! :D thx

When did they put air-conditioning in the old part of Segundo. Not listed here http://www.housing.ucdavis.edu/__pdf/2007contractinfo.pdf As a Bixby resident we used to comment about the softies who lived in the dorms with air. The other part of Davis weather is the wind. Always seemed as I would be riding my bike into the wind. Valley fog too.
