An increase in the number of applications will actually result in a decrease in the acceptance rate.
Columbia’s class size likely isn’t going to increase, nor is the amount of their class that they want to take in through ED (I forgot what % this is). There isn’t a set amount of seats for ED, but there’s a general number they want to hover around and they’re not going to accept more students because more applied - they’ll accept the same amount, thus dropping the acceptance rate.

I applied ED SEAS.
The only things working against me are probably my GPA and my course load but my school doesn’t offer many APs (small college prep school).
My mom’s an alumni and I had an interview, although I’m not sure how that affects my chances. I live about 30 minutes outside of NYC so it wasn’t a problem for me to meet up with my interviewer. I think it went well though. She was extremely nice and we kept up a really good conversation.
I’m a minority, and a girl so I guess you could say I’m working the system a bit.
My chosen major is Mechanical Engineering
Decisions come online in 16 days! I’m extremely nervous x) Good luck everyone!

Hey guys. i went CC ED. Two quick questions, wondering if anyone has any insight. Do the decision definitely come out on the 15th? Rumor is last year everyone heard on the 10th or something.

Also one of my friends is also applying to columbia and he has a legacy. His grades and score are lower than mine and hes less qualified but smart. Will the legacy get him in, and will it impact my chances of getting in? I only ask because he know that because he is a legacy he got an interview on campus with a guy in the admissions office which is not found anywhere on the site, and i assume it means legacies are big at columbia or they wouldnt offer that service.

the international applicant who has absolutely no other way to know except for this thread feels incredibly unsettled now, and would really like to know… someone told me 15th before, now its 10th or 9th??? Does anybody have a positive date on it?
