Columbia Class of 2021 ED Applicant Thread

@tyruanos you can check if your financial aid documents were received in the financial aid documents track. I think if it says received there everything’s fine

Just got an e-mail confirming that decisions will be released next Monday at 6pm!

Same here. Now we wait…

Not gonna lie, my heart stopped a little when I saw an email from Columbia Undergraduate Admissions

Any one from ca?

Yeah so we get it at 3 in the afternoon

I got mine as well, I am excited and scared at the same time

Do you think if we log in using a proxy server with a different location that we can see the decision earlier? Or will they actually be posting the decisions at 6 pm?

@arp987. They will be posted EST. Not based on local time.

Do you think the major we selected has any affect on our admissions? Are certain majors more likely to get accepted than others, due to popularity and such? I applied as a Human Rights Major, but am not sure if it is a major that receives a lot of other applicants, making me less likely to stand out.

can we please chance eachother

why isnt this thread receiving lots of comments- all the other ivies have tons and tons of pages

Dartmouth is also low as gas as comments are concerned.

*far not gas. Sorry

:frowning: never got an interview, oh well

when did you submit your application? pretty sure it’s first come first serve

I submitted 3 days before the deadline

me too and I didn’t get one either

Do you think I even have a chance? I have a 32 composite ACT, 3.5 GPA. I do a lot of community service and have been in almost every club offered at my high school. I’ve gotten several awards for my musical ability and I have excellent recommendations from my counselor and teachers. I’ve taken 4 AP Classes (two 5s and two 4s) and am currently taking a Dual Enrollment class and 2 AP classes as a senior.

I’m getting so nervous as the deadline gets closer, so feel free to chance me

My essays: By far the strongest part of my application. My English teacher said they made her cry and showed so much passion. I wrote about I am Malala and how it inspired me to want to have a career as a reporter who investigates human rights abuses and how I want to tell the stories of those who cannot tell their own. I wrote about how I think we can work to solve the human rights issues occurring in the globe.
For my ‘Why Columbia’ Essay, I wrote about a moment when I was driving at night on the New Jersey turnpike while my parents were arguing about the high price of tolls and how my father needed a job. I wrote how I looked at the NYC skyline and saw hope and got a feeling that was so hard to describe, a feeling that I was excited for something but did not know what it was I was excited for. I described how nyc gave me hope that these 16 years of arguments will merely be a memory, and that it contains the opportunities that will allow me to exceed. I also went on to say I crave knowledge, and that columbia’s core curriculum contains that knowledge.

I know this is pretty lengthy, but I thought I should share just to help calm my nerves haha
