Columbia Class of 2021 ED Applicant Thread

@Pam1972 The interviews at Columbia are assigned based on availability of alumni in your region. If she didn’t get an interview she won’t be plased at any disadvantage

@toxzlt - Thank you!

Hey guys! I’m from NYC, applying as a human rights major, but hoping to double major in international affairs as well. My goal is to work for an NGO such as amnesty international and do some service work for the peace corps. I’m applying to Columbia because there’s really no better place to be introduced to different perspectives than the city. But my other main reason is columbia has a study abroad year at the London School of Economics and Political Science which is by far my dream school, but it is sooo difficult to apply as an international with 5 AP scores of a 5 which I do not have yet.

*without 5 AP scores of a 5, my bad

Wait, I got an interview that was conducted by a current student over SKype? Do you think it’s weird that I had a different kind of interview than everyone else who commented so far?

@arp987 My interview was also conducted via skype as the interviewer was currently in Paris. I think it is pretty common so there really shouldn’t be a problem

Mine was over the phone, but Skype was offered as well. Thus, I don’t think that it is weird, they might just be trying to reach everyone they can.

@Meesha I applied to Columbia Engineering too

did Columbia call anyones counselors as ask for 1st quarter grades

@MNOPCOLLEGE is that always an indicator of admission? Can people still get in without being requested?

@MNOPCOLLEGE they asked for mine as my guidance counselor sent them, but I thought they required them for everyone

@AnxiousEloise when did your gc notify you?

@1039ttt She told me about 1 week ago that they had asked for them and she had submitted them, but I’m not sure the exact date they asked her.

What if I didn’t send in first quarter grades? Is it ok if I send them in now?

Hi guys! I am from Los Angeles and I have very low expectations of getting in :frowning: They called my College guidance counselor and told her I had “low chances” since I did not take a math class this year and I did zero STEM EC, but my school is very low income and ran out of math classes to give me so I do not know if they will take that into account

I didn’t send first quarter grades either. If they needed them, they would’ve just called. I wouldn’t worry about it. If you have showed a pretty steady academic record so far that’s probably why they didn’t contact you for them.

@cryinginspanish are you applying to the engineering school?

Did you get any interview ?

@tyruanos

I agree, I think asking for your first semester grades could indicate that you are on the cusp of getting accepted/denied
