No, a great interview can’t balance out anything. Perhaps if you were really, really borderline and your interviewer wrote that you were a phenomenal prospect, then it could tip you in. Alumni interviews just don’t count that much. But SAT scores aren’t the most important thing, so don’t rule yourself out based on that.
Hi to all, I have applied to Columbia ED, international, currently at IB 12-th grade, all 7s, total 45 plus a certificate of French. Amazing extracurriculars, essay, perfect recomendations, but low SAT (1420). Toefl 115. SAT Math 2 - 760. Any chance of being admitted? Thanks to all.
So i know were not supposed to inquire about interviews but columbia didnt contact me for a long time because they copied me email wrong on my account so i had to call them. Im concerned that if an interviewer contacted me via email i will never get it because adcom sent them the initial wrong email. I live in the DC area so im certain there are interviewers and i just dont know what to do?
Do you recieve an email if an interview is available?
Hi guys, I’m a fellow ED applicant and was wondering how y’all were doing with the financial aid application process. I submit the required materials through the IDOC on November 6th but they are still not processed. The deadline for ED financial aid applicants is November 15th, and I’m getting nervous. It says on the website that materials received after the deadline will be processed without penalty, but I’d still like to hear from other applicants. Thanks!
@C_Marie
I don’t think it will be a problem. I send in my CSS profile last friday and today I faxed the tax returns (international student so I need to fax). They clearly stated that it wasn’t a problem.
@C_Marie - appears that College Board is behind on IDOC submissions - from a phone call I made to them this morning. My S also submitted his docs through IDOC on Nov 6 and is yet to receive any confirmation. Being Election week and the additional Veterans Day holiday, I suspect, this has put them behind.
I had a similar issue. I had uploaded the documents but it still stated that some were missing. My mom emailed them and they responded by saying they had received everything but it could take 5-8 business days to process. So I think you should be fine as long as you have uploaded them.
Hey guys! International student from Brazil applying ED. My question is: I know the admissions process is holistic, but will a 36 English and a 35 Science scores on the ACT help me as an international applicant whose first language isn’t English? My scores for Math and Reading were 31 and 32. Composite was 34. Also, since I took the ACT w/ writing, my results will probably be ready for reporting only around the 19th of this month - that won’t be a problem, right?
Hi has anyone received an email from Columbia requesting you should have an interview? I just want to know if the interview emails have already come out thank you guys and good luck to you all
It’s Hollistic my friend, they don’t just base decisions on scores. If the rest of the app is strong I have faith you can get in. I wish you the best of luck
Hey all!!! I’m still waiting for some alum to contact me for an interview… Just wondering whether all have received interview notifications or some are still awaiting…
Columbia does not guarantee interviews for all due to limited volunteer slots. Thus, they won’t hold it against you if one isn’t conducted.
I had my interview, but I heard the interviews were given randomly and dependent on the amount of alumni in your area. I wouldn’t stress if you haven’t gotten an email about it
Does anyone know when columbia will announce the day that ED decisions will be released? do they ever state the date in advance?
Last year the results became available on Dec 12, I guess
Very likely!
Did anyone not have the ACT/SAT score report listed as received on the document tracking page yet? Is that bad? I sent a couple emails to the admissions office but didn’t get any reply. I got an email from the ACT saying that the report was being sent out today. Is it too late? I’m freaking out here!
Does anyone know what the exact day for early admissions decisions is? Looking at the past three, years, Columbia has always released on the 2nd Thursday of December, which is the 8th. Does anyone think that’s too early?
Well most decisions for ED tend to come out around the middle of December, so perhaps it’s more reasonable to expect something on the 3rd Thursday this time?
