Would you advise me to stick with my communications at UCLA goal, despite it being extremely selective.

Or should I just cut my losses and switch to another major? I don't want to, and there aren't any majors that interest me besides comm, but UCLA is my dream school

if it is your dream school, then stick with it. Also, one more thing I want to mention. If you tell foreigner UCLA, they will say "WoW." If you tell them UCB or CAL, they will say....."Pardon me?"
At least, this is what I know. Maybe someone will argue, but UCLA is more well-known than UCB from a global perspective.

Do you have any idea of another major that might interest you? What type of career do you want to get into? And are you in TAP? If you're in TAP and you really wanna go for comm then by all means go for it and get an alt major in case you don't get in for comm.

The worst thing to do is devote the rest of your college years and your career on something that doesn't interest you.

I'm in the exact same boat, worrying nonstop. I only have exactly 2 of the prerequisites done, and my GPA is only 3.78. Is the comm major always this impacted? Or was 2007 an unusual year? Maybe I should have chosen Hebrew instead :D

oh man im so nervous now, i just found out that political science is an impacted major....does TAP help me out with that one? also im in a Honors society and have a part time job, will that help me out as well?

Well, considering that UCLA admitted 56% of political science applicants last year, I think you've got a better chance than us Comm. majors... But yeah, the average GPA of those admitted to your major had just over a 3.5 GPA, which is just a tad above yours. Keep your fingers crossed. Goodluck!

Hongda I am sure if you say UCLA and UCB/Cal everyone will be more familiar name. But IF you say UCLA and Berkeley thats a horse of a different color since Berkeley does not really go by UCB.

glamfairydust:
If you could apply as a different major, I highly recommend it or else you will be in the same boat as all us comm majors: rejected. UNLESS you have a perfect record and all prereqs done.
Every Spring and Fall (if you are at UCLA) you can apply to be in the comm program as long as you have taken 36 graded ucla units.
