Cornelius Vanderbilt Scholarship Class of 2020

@whitespace

Yeah it always seems to be a Friday in early March. If you’re right, and it’s next Friday, well… a $160,000 birthday present from Vanderbilt would be nice.

@tutututututuru My birthday is in March as well, so this would definitely be nice. :slight_smile:

One can hope!

Anyone else notice that the scholarship tab is now back on Vanderbilt’s application portal.

@Adele123 I hadn’t until I saw your post, but yes it is back…speculation is announcements will be this Friday. Good luck.

Saw that this morning, but I wasn’t sure whether it actually meant anything.
Would that indicate that decisions will be released through the portal rather than just an email saying “you got it” or one saying “you didn’t”?

I think they might send an email to check the portal.

Guys, I saw that like 10 days someone got the Curb scholarship.

  1. Any of you?
  2. Does this mean I didn’t get it, if I’ve heard nothing?
  3. Does getting Curb mean you don’t get the others?

Stats from last year’s applicants. Danggggggg.

Dang. Those are some great stats. Hopefully NMF will help me.

How’d you find out about NMF before the scholarship submission date?

And honestly I don’t think NMF, or anything really with the PSAT will matter with any schools. Besides the ones that recruit them to pad their stats. I don’t think schools care much about that.

I didn’t find out about NMF before that date, but I knew I had a likely chance as a NMSF. Vandy can make that connection if I could. I was just basing that possibility off the previous thread that was posted where some said that they thought NMFs got an advantage with CV scholarship. Plus, NMF is based off of a lot more than just PSAT. Vandy does offer a couple thousand $/yr scholarship for NMF.

@whitespace
Good for you. That is awesome:)
And a lot of schools look for NMF and it does mean a lot to colleges. If not it wouldn’t be such a big deal.
Some schools offer significant merit based on a student being an NMF. Hopefully you will reap the benefits \m/

Those stats make me feel like my 35 is inferior…

@Fuzerabit Thanks! :slight_smile: Just trying to reassure myself as I wait for decisions to roll in.

@collegebobollege I feel similarly looking through that thread.

To be honest, I don’t know what more I could have done, except perhaps write a better essay for the scholarship. If I don’t get it, I’ll make my peace with it

If NMF is a boost, then I guess that’s great!

Are only recipients notified or do they let you know either way?

Do you think I stand any chance whatsoever, as an international with a 32 ACT? I have some research ECs like 3 time ISEF finalist, 2nd and 4th grand award winner, minor planet named after me by the MIT lincoln laboratory, Google science fair regional finalist. However, my ACT score sucks. Do you think that this will lead them to chuck the app out of the window without having a second glance at it? Frankly, merit aid is the only way I am going to be able to attend Vandy.

@georgiaonmymind pretty sure you get an email telling you one way or the other

Do y’all think getting one of the full ride Tulane scholarships means I have a good chance at CV? I feel like if anything being an ED applicant will hurt me a lot since I’m bound to go no matter what, which kinda sucks
