"ONLY 6 more days"

Hahahahahhaahhahahahahahaha

couselors wouldn't just send you q1 grades w/o telling you b/c i asked my guidance counselor and he said that he would've told me he was sending them...i think it depends on the school you apply to b/c all of them have different admissions offices

yeah i 2nd that... i applied to humec ED and i havent gotten asked (although i sent them in anyway b/c my GC said i might as well)

they ask for mid-term grades, not quarter. Once semester 1 is over, your grades go out. I think thats the purpose of the Mid-term report

i got an email requesting them, guidance counselor had no idea and actually told me I was wrong and that they would never ask for 1st quarter- only first semester.

Ok, now I am scared. No 1st quarter request :-/. I do not know weather to take this as a good or bad sign.

It seems like only engineering directly request first quarter grades, maybe other kids sent them in and shouldn't have, and sakrei cornell may have contacted your GC and your GC sent them in, don't worry about it, there are only 49 hours left, we will know in 49 hours if it was a good sign or bad sign, but i think engineering did it to take a look at your math and physics classes if you were taking any, my opinion

I hope they didn't, because I got off to a rough start this year. Worst physics teacher ever, and skipping physics 1 probably didn't help. I'm really hoping on my legacy, essays, and EC to pull through. Crossing fingers, and good luck to all of you!

So what do we think? Good or bad sign?

i think only engineering does it, and they do it for everyone, and it is neither a good sign nor bad sign, just commonplace

Wow. I'm more nervous than I was when I asked girls out in 6th grade.

psquared-

I am Engineering ED. I consider myself a qualified applicant.

Neither me nor my guidance department received a request for my first marking period grades. I did not send them. Therefore, it was not requested of every engineering ED applicant.

If I have b's in calc and physics will it make a big impact?

ok, well then my opinion of what might be the case is wrong (only if you are positive your GC did not send them out)

mercury,
i would like to think that it would be too much of a hassle to get every applicants 1st quarter grades, and that they only do it for those they are strongly considering, so maybe that is why they didn't take yours, no im just kidding, but i guess no one knows

and sakrei
i think the b's if they took your grades will hurt, b/c i got A's in ap physics and BC calc, so let's say they were dead even between you and me so they took a look at our grades, mine put me over, and yours put you in deferred, so i think the b's could hurt, but who knows, no one really even knows anything about this first quarter grade business anyways

Off topic, but did anyone else receive a letter regarding legacy? Was there any plus to getting this?

Yes, I got the legacy letter, dunno if there's much to it, but I guess it is a nice gesture. It rose my hopes a little.

what did the legacy letter say?

Basically it was saying that they don't want to assume we know everything about Cornell because you are a legacy, so here is more information, and a list of people to contact if you wish to learn more. The signature on the bottom looked surprisingly real, not that it matters.

Yea...I got the legacy letter....and also, I applied ED Engineering; neither my guidance counselor nor I received a request for first quarter grades....most of my friends are taking it as though I'm an automatic accept, but what if I'm an automatic reject?

when i called cornell about q1 grades they said "please do not send them"--i think that clears everything up now
