Cornell and 1st quarter grades

they didnt ask me for my first quarter grades :(

Talked to GC today about first quarter grades...she said that Cornell hasn't requested them, but also noted that maybe it was because they would take me anyway...I really hope thats true and that that one theory holds...

nygrl- where do you go to school you have REALLY similar stats compared to me except different major and like EC's

a really good public school in LI...whats your major?

There are only 3 things that make sense about this...

They only check students who they are strongly considering for admissions, just to make sure they didn't slack off already and to see early indication of senior year grades

The student is borderline accept/defer, good grades they are in, poor grades they are deferred

They do it for everyone

biological sciences

Wah!! Don't like that idea....that means I'm an automatic reject!! (at least according to the first two points)

ok they didn't ask me for my grades so i'm obviously rejected

did anyone email cornell and ask them why they do this? also unless you know for a fact that you didn't have your first quarter grades sent in, don't think they weren't, i didn't know that mine were until i talked to my counselor, and if i hadn't, i would be posting here saying that i didn't have mine sent, but really does anyone want to send an email to cornell, any brave souls?

Well, it is probably a bit too late for an email to have any effect on an application....still I'm too scared to do anything.

I emailed the Ask Uncle Ezra thing about why some have to send and some don't. Last time I asked about when decisions come and it was right, so hopefully Ask Uncle Ezra will respond by some time this weekend, and if so, i'll post the response here.

I have e-mailed Cornell admission's officer.
officer said: The request of 1st quarter grades is not necessarily an indicator of
acceptance or refusal. We ask for them for various reasons. Please do not
send your grades unless requested. Thank you.
So this clears things up

cornell didn't ask for my first quarter grades. guess i know what that means. it means i have to start working on my other applications.

Don't think like that barry, it could mean that you are already overly qualified and they accepted you without any further review

i asked my friend whos a junior at cornell now and he told me he never got asked for his 1st marking period/quarter grades (and he also applied ed).

He might not have known they requested them though, b/c i believe they don't contact the applicant, they contact the GC at the school. I didn't know they requested mine until about a week later when I was talking to my GC that she said Cornell asked her for first quarter grades.

is anyone in here applying to human ecology? maybe it varies according to college.

I asked my guidance counselor and mine were never requested.

I'm asking some people who applied to Cornell ED past years (who were either accepted, deferred, or rejected) and seeing what they say. Everybody, please do the same if you can.

Sigh....no matter what, there's nothing we can do now. They're probably already in committee, and they have maybe 3 or 4 decisions. If we mail grades in now, they won't reach Cornell in time. Besides, its only 6 more days until we find out anyway.

i wish no one ever started this thread, all it did is make the people who sent their grades more nervous, and the people who didn't send their grades more nervous, like pumpkin said, let's just wait it out, best of luck to all
