Newsweek also says that Princeton is the hottest liberal arts school even though it is a research university.

Yep, there is no doubt that Penn once had the reputation of being the doormat of the Ivies

If only I lived in a universe that had the progression of time...

And there is no doubt that Cornell NOW has the reputation for being the doormat of the Ivies.

Cornell is all about hockey. Penn doesn't have a hockey team. Penn is all about basketball. This year, Cornell's going to be better in basketball. Football's a tough call. The only things Cornell really beats Penn at are:

1) Suicides
2) Marching bands
3) Gorges
4) Hockey
5) State school programs (zing!)

Haha, can't believe this argument is STILL going strong!

I thin Penn beats cornell in crimes. Look at the Penn prof last year who was charge with the murder of his wife...damn, and I think I wrote in my app that I wanted to study with that professor!

hey dulce, ever heard that arguing on the internet is like competing in the special olympics...

...even if you win, you're still retarted.

...and even if you make an insensitive joke about a certain kind of people, you apparently don't have you spell "retarded" correctly.

Also, I'm glad that Cornell worked out so well for you

OK, I'm going to settle this. In terms of the quality of undergraduate students alone:
Cornell engineering > penn engineering
Cornell A&S = or a little < Penn A&S
Cornell Architecture is as prestigious within architecture as is Wharton within business
Other Cornell colleges < <<<<<<<< than anything at Penn.

Conclusion = the schools are basically the same for undergraduate (only if you're in A&S, Engineering or architecture), and on the graduate level, Cornell can't compete in certain area, although Penn will never approach Cornell in the hard sciences area. So stop the flame war, it's stupid.

In terms of overall prestige:
People in their late 20's and up all know Penn as the lowest ranked Ivy, and the only one ever to have been ranked as low as 20th. Furthermore the rigor of the Cornell education will always be respected.
HOWEVER:
Today, most our age would agree that a Penn student is slightly more "prestigious" than a Cornell student. But not as prestigious as a Brown, Columbia, or HYP student. Regardless of USNews, which is not based solely on undergrad quality, as perhaps it should be.

Why, why, WHY?

People, give this thread a break!

As an alum of Cornell (B.S.) and Wharton (M.B.A.)- I am personally embarrassed at the OPs posts. I think the Penn board has been quite patient with this character. Kudos to all of you. Sorry tetrisfan - I had to say something... now...lets "give this thread a break" please! :o

bump lol (10 char)

interesting thread...
