@M_51222 Awesome! I wasn’t sure if they only gave it to people who got rejected initially.
I do not believe they give GT for people on the WL. GT is usually offered during the decision time and GT is only for certain schools. I haven’t seen GT for CAS or COE (could be wrong). GT is not a rejection. It is actually better than WL.
Many people have gotten GT off of the waitlist. Just check threads from recent years and you’ll find many. Obviously this information is just anecdotal.
Does anyone know how many people they usually take of the WL for hum ec specifically?
@DHC in hindsight early decision might have been better for you… our child did, and after they were accepted, we reviewed the FA, and even spent an hour with a Financial Aid person from Cornell to talk about the package and our specifics… they were clear, that if the aid didn’t work out, we could break the ED agreement. I hope everything works out for you and your child, best of luck!
How were everyone’s stats?
It wasn’t that simple @miscparentname - I have triplets. ED not possible unless all three did ED so we could figure out what three schools we had to pay all at the same time, and one of our boys (not the Cornell seeking on) had music auditions which you can’t ED through. It would not have been possible for us to apply for ED in good faith since we needed full numbers for all three kids.
@dhc , I just saw my triplet great nephews at an Easter gathering.
Admitted # of students @ cornell
Class of 2019 - 6315
Class of 2020- 6337
Class of 2021- 5962
Class of 2022 5288
Maybe there is hope for the waitlist?
How do you figure @KAGANJA123 ? Because fewer were admitted, there is more room for those on the waitlist?
Does anybody know how many were admitted off the waitlist for each college?
Does anyone know if the waitlist is ranked? If so, would I be able to call and get a sense of my position?
Sorry to say it seems as if no one has any solid information other than the letter received via portal saying you are on the waitlist. My D committed to the University of Pittsburgh yesterday where she has merit $, an auto admit into a graduate program, a top neuroscience dept., honors college. I just want to be able to move forward and not worry about her waitlists after she does her initial loci. Is anyone else distracted? Able to move on? She seems like she is moving on, and I know she’s excited about Pitt.
@Winky1 , have your D already sent the LOCI? Where/who did she send to? My son is also trying to send the LOCI and move on, but still don’t know how/where to send it to. Some other schools have a “upload LOCI” option in their portal, which makes it crystal clear.
She hasn’t written it yet @bogeyorpar . I was going to have her either call or email admissions to get the exact address where they would like it to arrive.
Cornell has taken anywhere from 60-160 off the waitlist, so admitting less students may mean they’ll go to the waitlist, and the waitlist this year is really big, so that may be their plan. Also, admitting less drives the acceptance rate down, and Cornell is really priding themselves on that right now.
And maybe they’ll really want to be gatekeepers with the waitlist to help their yield. Make it even stronger.
The waitlist is not ranked @Pazura
Waitlists are not ranked because they try to “make a class” so they look at all factors when choosing from the waitlist (i.e. geographic location, race, etc.)
So if I want to send any updates (just to express continued interest), should I send it right to the admissions email address or a local admissions rep for Cornell?
