So last year it was the first Thursday of May when many people started hearing…
Is that expected this year too??

@grundeis , I don’t think it has anything to do with the day of the week, but instead the date. Thursday of last year was the 4th. Nonetheless, I believe decisions will be released within the next few days, if not today.
Based on what I’ve seen on last year’s thread, I think they sent out the vast majority of their waitlist offers in the first week of May or so, and they gave the Transfer option in mid-May. After mid-May, all students in the thread except one were rejected.
Well for the class of 2020 thread, I only see acceptances off of the waitlist later than May 12th and in mid-May, nowhere near the first week…
Today I was accepted to Cornell off the waitlist for the College of Engineering! I am so thrilled!!
@EchoTheCat Congrats! What time did you hear back?
@collegedream101 They emailed me at 1:30 pm today saying that Cornell Engineering would be accepting a small number of people off the waitlist and they wanted to nominate me to the selection committee. They asked me to respond within 24 hours if I was still interested in attending Cornell. I responded about 45 minutes later and said yes. They emailed again at 3:50 pm with an official offer of admission.
CONGRATS so the situation is already better!!!
Last year and the year before, no one was accepted into Engineering
I was also just offered admission into the school of engineering off of the waitlist! Same process as the person above described.
Congrats to those admitted!
So the first wave should be school of engineering
Congratulations!! @EchoTheCat Could you please tell me if you received any emails apart from the automated response from undergradapp after you sent in your loci? I havent received any and i dont know if i’m supposed to! Also, apart from undergradapp, did you send it anywhere else?
@EchoTheCat , I am wondering if you have any Demonstrated Need? Congratulations to you and @sbaa123!! So great! Do you have demonstrated need @sbaa123?
@iamacatlover I sent a LOCI to the undergrad app email and received an automated reply saying that it might be several days before they would respond. I didn’t get any emails other than this. I also sent an email later on to the engineering admissions email and received a response thanking me for my email and continued patience. This might differ from college to college, though.
If you’re worried that your LOCI didn’t get to the right place, it wouldn’t hurt to contact the admissions office and make sure!
@EchoTheCat @sbaa123 Did you guys do anything in particular that made your application stand out in the waitlists? Did you send additional grades, recommendation letters etc or is it just LOCI? What region are you all from?
@EchoTheCat Alright. Thank you!
@lenasharb In addition to my 2 LOCIs, I sent an updated grade report. I did not send additional recommendation letters per Cornell Engineering’s website: “We respectfully request that you NOT send any additional letters of recommendation, particularly from teachers or college counselors; we find that the impact of these are minimal at this point relative to the burden they place on referees.”
So it’s JUST the engineering wave today for sure…there are zero people in other schools both here and on reddit, so all my fellow L&S ppl - we still have hope!!!
The FACT that so many people are getting off the engineering waitlist is amazing!! They haven’t even used the Engineering waitlist for the past few years!!
If anyone hears from hum ec, please post in here!! And congrats to all the engineering people!!!
Hope it is a good sign that they are taking more from waitlist this year, given that they admitted 700 less students than last year.
Are there lots posting on reddit @grundeis ?
