I heard of 2 engineering people on reddit, they may be the same as here (I would post in both places if I got in lol).
@EchoTheCat Is this what other colleges say too? I applied to CAS and didn’t see this written anywhere, but my counselor did send in a letter. A little worried now…
No, this is specifically for engineering students on the engineering website.
A&S doesnt have this dedicated “Waitlist” website that engineering does, so it’s probably different, I think CAS also doesn’t have such a website…
CAS allows additional recs! I asked admissions last month before I sent mine
So is it probably going to be A&S tomorrow?
I think in 2016, CALS came out first, so it can be that school?
Which school do you guys predict for tomorrow?
Does this mean the rest of us waitlisted engineers are out of consideration?
If you replied “yes I’m interested” and got the official offer, does it mean you are committed? Otherwise, how long do they give you to decide and send in deposit?
It is curious though…my experience is that you receive a phone call when being offered admission from a waitlist. Cornell’s Engineering website specifically states you will receive a phone call. If your post is legit, then congrats!
@Spacedude35 I though they would call me as well, but when I got the email it seemed legit as its from the Director of Engineering admissions. I also called the office to talk about FA so Im pretty sure this is legit. Maybe too many spots to fill for them to call each person individually.
@lenasharb I sent 2 LOCIs, one early on and one 2 days ago. Also I visited lol, which probably made a huge difference and my counselor said she submitted some sort of additional rec because when she called to talk to them they asked her to send additional info through writing.
@Winky1 Nope I have no demonstrated need, will find out my FA info tomorrow though.
@sbaa123 when did you visit? I wanted to visit this month but they have no more events for visitors.
@lenasharb I visited in mid April. They didnt have any official events but I just walked around myself and registered the visit with the person at the engineering office of admissions.
Congrats to all!
@sbaa123 Do you know where your counselor sent your recommendation? Mine sent mine on undergradapp. Do you think that’a fine?
I go to a very large school HS and my guidance counselor won’t advocate on my behalf. She said there are over 50 students on the waitlist and and they would need to advocate for them all so they won’t do any. Do you think that will hurt my chances of getting in?
@totwocollege No, I don’t. My S goes to a large high school and was WL Cornell and CMU and his GC told him that the WL game has changed and by her calling, it may even hurt his chances, so she said send updates to Cornell and do nothing for CMU but wait.
Guys did anyone hear back from College of Arts and Sciences yet for the waitlist? Also do internationals get FA off the waitlist? Does anyone have estimates of how many CAS will take off this year? Thanks!
@Andromeda10 Why would GC calling hurt chances? I’ve only heard on here of how GC calling and advocating for you can be a plus.
I am just repeating what his GC said; not trying to argue with anyone.
