COSMOS 2012 Waiting Board

missiris: My gosh, this just keeps getting better! Thanks for informing me! I knew UCD had AC, but I didn’t know that was an exclusive thing haha
Tennis courts! I know that on Sundays, tennis courts are available at UCD! If I get in, I’m going to cross my fingers for a fellow student in my cluster/roommate that plays tennis because going to COSMOS would mean missing a month of tennis practice. (Our school tennis team is really serious and top-notch so we have to practice throughout the summer. It’s optional in a way, but missing it would mean you’d be very behind and I’m supposedly playing on the singles lineup this year…)

COSMOS was an amazing experience last year. Good luck and have fun kiddos!

@disguise Thanks! :]

@cosmogony I bet people wish they knew that UCD had AC when they were choosing which campus to attend, hehehe ;)

I just received my SAT scores from the March test this morning. I got a 580 critical reading, 680 writing, and 780 math. Pretty skewed.

Conor, for CR, study vocab. It helps A LOT. I used Direct Hits (Vol 1 and 2). For W, I would just take Collegeboard released tests and go over what I did wrong (if you don’t do that already). Also, review English conventions/grammar.

Is it weird that every single time I take the SAT (real & practice), my CR score is always the highest and my math score is always the lowest? >_<

Everyone always says that it’s the CR that messes them up… but for me it’s math. :P

you guys are making me freak out for SAT…it sounds so hard…D;
btw does anyone here play a string instrument?

I had to take it in 7th and 8th grade. I didn’t do “great” but I think I scraped by with a 2000. It was okay for being in middle school I guess. I’m really aiming for a 2300+ though

2300 in 8th grade…when I was in 8th grade I didn’t even know English…

@KenLOL95 I hope this doesn’t sound mean (just so you know, a lot of my friends are FOBs :D), but your comment made me LOL.

March SAT scores have come out! :] Missed my goal by only a little, but this one was just practice… 780 CR, 760 writing, 750 math. (WHY MATH WHY.)

No haha. I meant I am currently aiming for a 2300+.

@nicolestarb 2300 in 8th grade would be pretty freaking amazing though :D

It’d be amazing no matter what year haha. Hopefully with 2 more years of school behind me I can do it :)

@nicole Of course! Anything’s possible! :D

@Ken I’ve been playing the violin since third grade and I am now a sophomore :-)

@Ken I play the guitar! (not really a string instrument but oh well) :]

@ cosmogony
Yes, UCD has internet in the dorms. There’s a specific time when everyone goes to the computer lab to connect their laptops. Just bring a REALLY LONG Ethernet cable. The ones on sale at UCD are pretty expensive. You don’t know how far the plug is going to be from your desk and mine didn’t reach. :frowning: Also, there are tennis courts in the ARC (rec center). When I was there, we stayed in Emerson, the off campus freshmen dorm. COSMOS students were not allowed in the dorm pools, but there are separate pools throughout campus.
About UCSD, I think you would definitely get most of the college experience if you dormed. To me personally, any place that is close enough to conveniently drive home every weekend is too close.
COSMOS is the reason why I applied to UCD in the first place and am considering going there. Who knows, the same thing might happen to you. :)

kinda off topic…but can i just get a poll of how many applied to each campus? right now, it seems UCD is most popular and UCI the least. I applied to UCI so hopefully that will boost my chances :)

@fash123 Your predictions seem about correct… remember though that there is a lot of people who apply who aren’t on CC ;)

@fash123 I applied for Clusters 2 and 3 (1st and 2nd choice respectively) at UCD. When it comes to COSMOS admissions, it is mostly based on not what campus you applied to, but what clusters you applied to. Here’s a link to the 2010 COSMOS discussion board that has the number of applicants for each cluster from the 2009 application year:http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/summer-programs/862532-cosmos.html</a></p>

Hopefully, that will help to give you a good idea how competitive your cluster will be.
