COSMOS 2012 Waiting Board

@ivy Are you out of state? Just wondering, since you mentioned you studied at BYU and that’s in Utah. That may increase/decrease your chances.

Oh and results come out officially on May 1st, although they may come out earlier if the cluster you applied to isn’t particularly competitive.

And the bioengineering and biofuel clusters are new this year to UCSD… don’t really know how you could determine whether they are competitive or not based on last year’s applications. :]

naw. i did the BYU online. i live in CA.

did anyone apply to uc davis young scholars program

Earliest you can get a letter is April 21st (so I’ve heard).

That means somebody might be getting a letter in less than 3 weeks!:] Lucky duck.

Any musicians competed in Southwestern Youth Music Festival? If I get into COSMOS, I can’t perform this year. Just another reason to anticipate that fateful email >_<

@vivng If someone read our posts without knowing what COSMOS is, they might think that we’re waiting for an execution notice or something LOL.

@missiris LOL. it definitely feels like it DD:

The bioengineering cluster is a semi-modified version of the molecular bio cluster…so I assume it will still be popular.

@IvyLeaguer Then last year 139 people applied to your similar cluster.
25/139 is the acceptance rate. Pretty competitive! :]

I wonder if all the decisions are already made, and they’re just not sending the letters to torture us XD

I’m just glad that I’m on Spring break…so when I come back from school, I just have to get through one-two weeks to find out :p

@nicolestarb Oh the torture. If they are doing that to us… D:

@afourally Lucky! My spring break starts this Friday.

let’s talk campuses! do you guys know any key differences besides the a/c mentioned before?

My application status and my cluster status now say “Under Review.” Anyone else have this? I’m scared haha

@cynnek Mine does too! D:
I don’t know whether to be relieved or worried. I’m worried. LOL.

“Under Review” sounds like a police interrogation.

What campus did you apply to?

@cynnek I applied to UC Davis. :]

“Under Review”

heeeere comes the rejection…

@KenLOL95 Stay positive… LOL there’s still like half a month left! :] :] :]

@fash123 If you look at the COSMOS websites for the specific campuses, there’s like a handbook. The UCSD one is pretty extensive.

Hi guys!
So I’m a freshman and my GPA is 3.89 (we’re not allowed to take weighted classes this year). I applied for the UC Santa Cruz for 1) Cluster 3: Under the Sea 2) Cluster 8 Marine Mammals & Oceanography 3) Cluster 7: Astronomy & Oceanography.
They seem relatively “easy” compared to the other clusters, but I haven’t taken Chemistry yet so a good portion of my options is already wiped out… -.- Still, they’re pretty competitive clusters from what I heard.
What are my chances? I don’t have anything planned out for the summer other than COSMOS and a couple small summer camps… What else can I do over the summer? I want to be ahead of my peers by next fall, in both extracurriculars and academics. Suggestions, please? (:
