COSMOS 2012 Waiting Board

Alex, one of the comments said that COSMOS is not that much work. About how much academic work does COSMOS (particularly Cluster 2) provide for the students?

@everyone :] [COSMOS - Frequently Asked Questions](http://cosmos.ucdavis.edu/faq.htm) <— On this website (for COSMOS at UCD), it says “Email notification will be sent to all applicants by the end of April. Admissions status will not be given over the telephone.”

So I guess it will be a little before May 1. But they say that date as the latest you can receive your letter.

Ohhh, so there is a letter of acceptance as well?

The FAQs for UC Davis haven’t been updated since January 2011 though DD:

@afourally No, I wasn’t clear enough, LOL. The letter is the email. Sorry :]

@vivng D: Ugh I know!

excited guys? :slight_smile:
applications are under review~

@cosmogony
I applied to the UCI campus :3
Cluster 6 Biomedical Sciences
Cluster 3 Tissue and Tumor Biology
Cluster 7 The World of Molecules

the acceptance rates for biomed is low ._. I hope I get my first choice D:

@sharnka I applied to clusters 6 and 3 as well! :smiley: but my first choice was tissue and tumor biology.

What does “faculty review” mean?

i hope we get in! :slight_smile:
where does it say that?

On UCD COSMOS’s twitter (reading for fun haha) it says that the applications are now under faculty review

Does it just mean now people are actually reading the applications?

@vivng Now the professors for the respective clusters are reading the apps. :O

@cosmogony 899?!?!

@afourally I know :[

Oh and overall acceptance rates for each campus in 2008.

UCD
applied: 387
accepted: 167
rate: 43%

UCI
applied: 187
accepted: 143
rate: 76%

UCSD
applied: 241
accepted: 148
rate: 61%

UCSC
applied: 318
accepted: 150
rate: 47%

… and it only gets more competitive. D:
(referring to cosmogony’s post that almost 900 applied to UCD alone this year)

This year the acceptance rate for UCD is 22%, assuming they accept 200 like they did last year. D:

I eased out of most of my anxiety in this past month, but now they have to post THOSE statistics. ):

@cosmogony They just enjoy torturing us LOL
