COSMOS 2012 Waiting Board

how long did it take for your things to get confirmed? i mailed my stuff feb 28 and got a return reciept that they received it march 5, but the website still says not received…

does “Y” mean they received it?

@humblebumblebee Yes! :)

Yeeeee so I told my school bout the situation, so the principal emailed them bput the whole transcript thing and the cosmos people are gonna have a meeting whether they’re gonma accept my application or not

I know this isn’t cosmos related but what do you guys plan to major in? I’m curious to see what path students my age are going in x)

@Chiangsta Yay! Good to hear :)

@afourally I really want to major in something like molecular biology… I think I want to be either a geneticist or do cancer research or something. Haha what about you?

Neurology. I’ve wanted to do neural research since 7th grade. :D

@afourally: I have wanted to major in Chemical Engineering ever since middle school. (It’s a very broad major that will prepare me well for any minutely related career! :D) What about you?

I want to major in biomedical engineering or molecular biology! :smiley: I’m not sure if I want to be a biomedical engineer because you can’t really get anywhere w/out a PHD but we’ll see when the time comes around. What kind of jobs do you want to get into w/ your degree, though?

Electrical Engineer and Computer Science. Wanted it since I was like 7 or 8.

@cynnek That’s my brother’s exact major!

I’m majoring in pre-medicine along with a bit of bio-engineering. I know, this is EXTREMELY hard, but I don’t see any other choice since I love pathology sooooo much D:…oh well gona stock up on knowledge :(

Sooooo, let’s say it’s may 1st. You come home from school and find a letter from cosmos. You’re accepted!! First thing you do? (:

I’d be like “What’s COSMOS?” since it’s been so long -_-

Oh gosh I know. The waiting period is so insanely long aha XD

Is anyone else planning on becoming a surgeon?
I’ve wanted to become one ever since I was 5, when my brother had an appendectomy :D

@nicole I take off all my clothes and dance.

My cousin received her’s right before she went to her first period, bio. She like ran up to her teacher and gave him a hug for his recs

@KenLOL95: Good one! I’d probably do that too. Darn this waiting period…
@nicolestrab: Considering school gets out at 3 every day and my parents are always working and I have to wait for two hours to get picked up at 5, I’d probably still be at school when I check my email. (The school computers don’t block gmail.) In that case, I’d go to my teachers’ rooms to see if they’re still around and thank them for writing a recommendation that I now know was good. XD
@afourally: I used to want to become a Biomedical Engineer (sorry I had to contemplate whether or not I wanted to use the Skyrim arrow joke), but I, like you, realized that there aren’t many jobs out there. My big dream is to go into Nanotechnology (the big reason why I’m applying to the Chemistry of Life cluster at UCD) but if engineering itself doesn’t appeal to me, I could easily switch to pharmacy.

My parents REALLY want me to study Bioengineering… I don’t think I want to but I haven’t completely ruled it out. I think it’s a great field because I think it’s actually fairly general while still being really complex and exciting
