COSMOS 2012 Waiting Board

no body can be moar asian than I am, just came to U.S. a few years back now I’m trying to fight for good colleges…talk about stereo type ._.

OMG I JUST HOPE ONE OF MY REC. LETTER TEACHERS MENTION I’M A FOB IN THEIR FORM D;

Half of March down guys! Only like a month and a half left )’:

lol, “plays jeopardy waiting song”
[10 minutes of the Jeopardy theme song… sort of - YouTube](<a href=“10 minutes of the Jeopardy theme song... sort of - YouTube”>10 minutes of the Jeopardy theme song... sort of - YouTube)

Campus: UCD
Cluster: Chemistry of Life (didn’t apply to any others because nothing else appealed to me, LOL.)
UW GPA: 4.0
W GPA: 4.6
Recs: Honors Chem Teacher- fantastic, she said I’ve been one of her best students in years. I’m also the top student in her class.
Honors Algebra 2- great, he likes my sense of humor and I have over a 100 in his class.
ECs: Best Buddies, Speech and Debate, NJROTC, Piano
CST: Advanced in all (I’m currently a sophomore)

Good luck to everyone, and I’m sure we’re all anxiously waiting for May 1st.
If I’m lucky enough to get accepted, I’m looking forward to meeting a lot of you guys! We should have some conversations that AREN’T over CC. :)

Forgot to add this, but… I’m super nervous. Hahahahaha.

Over 20 people from my school applied to COSMOS this year. Most are for the physics, math, and programming clusters (my HS has the #1 HS CompSci program in the nation).

BUT STILL. Anxiety is slowly taking me over. :)

What campus did they apply to?

EDIT: Oh UCD. My apologies.

I think itd be so awesome if some of us actually met each other at cosmos x)

Walk in on the first day, “HEY!! Who was on college confidential?” have 150 people stare at you like an idiot and the rest greet you like a best friend XD.

A girl from another high school claimed that she got accepted into UCD already…what a ■■■■■. It comes out May 1st ._.

It could come earlier, but I don’t think THIS early.

Lol where’d you see that? The earliest is mid April. I wish it came out this early )’:

Seems like a majority of the people on here have applied to UCD. Even though there’s a wide variety of clusters, I think everyone still stays in the same dorms… Do I hear the words CC meetup? ;)

that is if we get in LOL

I think UCD will send out their letters at a pretty standard time. It’s the most popular campus in the COSMOS program and has the most applicants, so they will need all the time they can to look at every single app. People who get early letters are usually those who apply to the less popular clusters that aren’t as competitive. Just my two cents. And yes, of course we have to get in, but by looking at everyone’s stats on here I think a lot of people are going to be accepted! COSMOS is certainly having a hard time right now picking out the lucky acceptees. :)

missiris: You applied to my top choice, but you seem more qualified than me. D: Do you only have those four extracurriculars or did you only have those four?
Oh, and did your other friends apply to Chemistry of Life as well? I was kind of relying on the fact that not many people apply to Cluster 8 as a first choice cluster. They normally apply to Biotech or Biomed and end up in Cluster 8 because it was their second choice. XD

cosmogony: I thought your EC’s were more impressive than mine. D:
and I only put in 4 EC’s because those are my main ones. (And partly because I have this weird logic in my head that I don’t want to look uninvolved but I also don’t want to look crazy. Hence I filled up half of the spaces but not all of the… LOL stupid I know.)

Most of my friends applied to the robotics and physics programs. Those crazy people… Then again that means less competition for us. :]

I think UCD is popular only because that’s the only campus in NorCal. I wanted to go there but my parents would never pay for my ticket plus tuition.

The only reason I would have applied to Davis is biomed, but like afourally, my parents didn’t want to pay for transportation XD
So UCSD it is :)

missiris: Actually, the robotics and physics programs are much less competitive than chemistry and the biomed/biotech clusters. I was struggling between Computers in Biophysics & Robotics and Physics in Electro-Optics & Nuclear Technology but I ended up choosing the former.

Lol that means I’m crazy because I put down my 5 main EC’s but I really have 5 more… I have all honors classes (except band) but it sucks that my school doesn’t weigh them all so I have a 4.1 instead of a 4.7. :frowning: So you have the upper hand in that field…

@cosmo Why doesn’t your school weight your grades? What’s the point in even taking AP’s/Honors then?
