crazy conservative schools....

Crypto you know I agree that BJU is full of some whackos but it frankly ****es me off a lot that you categorize all South Carolinians of being like that. You don't know me so don't judge me.

hehe... I was reading the schools news paper and discovered on their only only free day they have something called "the Wheel of Misfortune (an unfortunate student dialing for demerits)."

Sounds harsh, but in a strange way kinda funny.

Think about it - these people would rather ban gay marriage and live in poverty than vote for the "other guy", who brought the promise of economic development (Kerry of course)

[/quote]

There were A LOT of other states besides those in the "Bible Belt" that voted to strike down gay marriage. And of course Kerry would bring prosperity to everyone! He did everything right? Well except win the election.

BCgoUSC - I'm sorry that I offended you. Of course not all South Carolinians are "scary", and I certainly didn't intend for my statement to reflect all of them. However, as frank as you are in voicing your opinion against my statement, I'm just as frank in telling you what my dad has seen.

And with the Terri Schiavo case, you have seen it too. When you have religious fundamentialist Floridians getting arrested along with their PRE-TEEN children for protesting, yeah I'm gonna call those people scary. They are horrible parents, subjecting their pre-adolescent children to embarrassment by being handcuffed and arrested in front of TV cameras. And, sorry for the hard truth, but there aren't any of those people in New Jersey (and if there are some, they certainly aren't even a voicable minority).

Your generalizations are quite wrong both of the South and the North.

I can assure you that I have seen a great deal more of the South than you or your father has and the happenings in Florida are not because of something in the water in the south, it is because of a few isolated sets of people. I can quite frankly assure you that the same would have happened in any other state.

Well my father has been a long haul truck driver for over 25 years (and 2 million+ safe miles) and he's driven in every state in the contiguous United States. He's also delivered paper and produce to the most rural areas of the entire nation, so I bet my father actually has seen as much as the South as you. However, you are right that this incident would probably occur in any state.

I think the more alarming issue is how blatantly the right-wing religious concentration disregards the Rule of Law. The religious fundamentialists always chide the use of "liberal activist judges" on every social issue... of course, unless, the same "liberal activist judges" rule against their wishes. What we saw here was conservative religious fundamentialists, of which are predominantly in the South (which is why the South went for Bush and the NorthEast went for Kerry, no denying that fact) continue to demand Jeb Bush to resign and to have a new governor disregard the numerous court decisions, thus destroying the foundation of Rule of Law our nation was built on. The cronies that moaned on cable television about how all these court decisions were ludicrous (despite the fact that these courts are mostly conservative, especially the Federal 11th District Court of Appeals) shows the egregious hypocrisy of the religious fundamentialists. Like I said above, activists judges are only bad when they rule in favor of progressive movements - but if we can get a select few judges to rule in our favor, they hey it's all right! I don't think so...

Don't worry, I agree with you on Terry Schiavo. I think that I am probably one of the most conservative people that you will ever run into, but what is ironic about what happened was how the Republicans politicized this issue and destroyed states rights and likewise increasing Federal power to try to bring some apparent right to life while at the same time going against the basic ideologies of the Republican Party. WHO KNOWS!?!?

Just don't mess with the South lol...

Lol, you Southerners sure are tough cookies - ill admit that

but we yankees won the Civil War ;) :D

What, the Civil War???
There has never been a Civil War in America.
A Civil War is defined as two factions fighting for control of one Government.
Lets be politically correct and call it the War of Northern Aggression or the War of Southern Secession.
Heck I'll even take the War Between the States.

We sure are tough cookies....

Whatever it's called, we won :D

Thats a matter of perception and opinion.
lol
I've gotten kicked out of AP Government WAY too many times for having this argument.

I know a girl that's going to Bob Jones next year, but she's also been going to Bob Jones Elem/JH/Academy (high school) all her life, so I guess she's pretty used to the structure of it.

I feel sorry for that girl...

Actually the Civil War would have been more of a Revolution then a Civil War.

Most of the people who go to schools like PCC and BJU are sent there by over protective parents who never want their children to see the real world. There are alot more people out there like this than most of you people realize. As for the Carolinas comment I whole heartedly disagree. To me anything south of Akron that isnt on either coast or in Chicago is the bible belt.

haha I totally agree with your bible belt interpretation. Thank god for the coast.

I've been to a 'bible' city nearby in WV. Oh my gosh. You don't tell anyone if you're not Christian. And every 5 miles there's a church. You can't tell these people ANYTHING, no, whatever they believe is 100% right. And these people tend to be unhealthy & obese. It's bad.

haha i love how EVERY post on cc turns into a north vs. south debate...

by the way no one responded:

wouldnt you love to just streak through the campus naked with an abercrombie hat and multiple body piercings, jewelry, tangled purple hair, smoking pot, waving the gay flag, and leaving a trail of pornographic pictures behind you???

I'm still trying to figure out the Wheel of Misfortune... Something about that really intrigues me. :)
