I got a letter saying I was nominated for this 60-person program. Anyone know anything about it? How many are nominated vs. how many actually get it?

Also, is this related to the Cornell "Commitment?" The Commitment is composed of three different programs, none of which seems to be the Dean's Scholar program--at least, that's what I remember from a brochure I read a very long ago.

My friend was also nominated. She applied to CAS and just found out today. (Which is pretty awesome because CAS isn't rolling.) I'm not sure how many they actually take, but they probably offer it to more than 60 assuming that not everyone will choose to attend Cornell. I'd say your chances of getting it are pretty high. And I think Commitment is different than this based on what she said was in the letter. Did you apply to CAS also?

I wonder if it's scholarship that is unique to CAS? Huge congrats is in definitely in order -- they must only offer it to the best of the best. At least you don't have to wait until a certain date to find out about your acceptance! Good luck & choose Cornell! :p

I'm an Engr. dean's scholar right now. There's one for CAS too. You don't get anything out of it except merit-based aid. They have a function at the beginning of the year - go to it. You'll meet a lot of classmates. Don't dress up like some poeple do bc its pretty informal. There's no nomination process. They decide when you get admitted.

So there's no connection between Dean's Scholars and the Cornell Commitment? I was hoping to be a Presidential Research Scholar. Probably a pipe dream.

What is the difference between being a dean's scholar, the presidential reseach scholar, and the cornell committment?
For those who recived it, did you also receive a likely letter?
