DECEMBER 2008 SAT Subject Test: World History

you're correct Lakerboy.

no not the decolonization, the english parliament one

Can we go over the last 20 questions?

who remember that one about the difference between Japanese and Europeans feudal system??

"no not the decolonization, the english parliament one"

I think you're correct on that one.

do u know the answer to the question about what was the difference of the position of the merchant in european and chinese society. i put that the merchant had a lower status in china is that right or no.

yes, that's also correct.

^Pretty sure that's right

yep it was right

post more questions please

Agreed with the above.

Couple more I can think of.

Biggest influence on Rome at its height = ?
Enlightenment philosophers promoted improvements for = ?
(Passage) text about the Indies/trade written by = ?

I thought it was land-owner, or something to that extent. But I think my answer was the same regardless.

what about that idea that karl marx originally promulgated but wasn't never practiced ,,,,i don't remember well the question

Greek culture ---> biggest influence on Rome
Enlightenment philosophers ---> middle class or something
i don't remember this last one

Greeks? A lot of their artistic and political thought...

middle class, over the aristocratic monarchy

I put the King of Portugal. I almost put Marco Polo, BUT it was written in third person: "they found this, and brought back that" etc. If it was from Marco Polo's diary, it would've said "I found merchants in india"

I don't remember that karl marx question. Since Rwanda wasn't colonized until 1880, while Sierra Leone is a colony for the "black poor" of London or something like that and had a charter before 1820, I'd say Rwanda + Ethiopia is the safest answer.

Does anyone remember the choices for the difference between China and Europe, I might have gotten that wrong

I believe the Greeks influenced the Romans the most.

I agree with all of those.

Maybe I did better than I initially thought. :)

The Karl Marx question was easy. He believed (and constantly proclaimed) that capitalism would eventually collapse on its own and morph into socialism.

SAME, Sirius! haha I know I omitted 10 and missed at least 5 or 6, but a 750 wouldn't be so bad :)

Oh now I can remember this last one and I think I have done a stupid error ...i chose the Columbus one

Oh, and for the Indies trade, I remember the date was something in the 1490s, which will refer to Columbus or de Gama. So i believe it may be King of Portugal, because it referred to the explorer as "they", and that could refer to the Spanish.
